Marbella in September 2026: Best Events, Things to Do & Local Experiences

Spread the love

September might just be one of the best months to experience Marbella.

The intensity of August begins to soften, but summer is far from over. The days are still made for the beach, evenings remain warm enough for dinner outdoors, and Marbella settles into a slightly more relaxed rhythm.

And if you’re wondering what to do in Marbella in September 2026, there is plenty happening beyond the beach.

From international music and art exhibitions to wellness events, sporting events and creative experiences in Marbella Old Town, here are some dates and ideas worth adding to your September calendar.

Premios Juventud Comes to Marbella — 3 September

September begins with one of the month’s biggest events.

For the first time, Premios Juventud will be held in Europe, with Marbella hosting the 23rd edition at the Starlite auditorium on 3 September 2026. The event will bring together major names from Latin and Spanish music, with confirmed performers including Manuel Carrasco, La Oreja de Van Gogh, Farruko, Eladio Carrión and others. Antonio Banderas will also be honoured during the event for his social and educational work.

The event takes place at the spectacular open-air venue in the Cantera de Nagüeles, which has become one of Marbella’s most recognisable summer entertainment destinations.

If you’re visiting Marbella at the beginning of September and love music, fashion and a little red-carpet energy, this is certainly the date to know about.

Marbella Arena — Until 5 September

The summer programme at Marbella Arena continues into the first week of September, with its 2026 season officially running until 5 September

Located close to Puerto Banús, the former bullring has been transformed into an events venue and has become another fixture of Marbella’s summer nightlife and entertainment scene.

It’s worth checking the programme if your trip falls during the first few days of the month.

World Wellness Weekend — 18–20 September

For something altogether calmer, World Wellness Weekend takes place from 18 to 20 September 2026, with activities listed in Marbella Old Town.

It’s a rather fitting event for September. After the excesses and relentless social calendar of July and August, Marbella begins to feel a little more restorative.

Wellness has also become an increasingly important part of the Marbella lifestyle, from yoga and fitness to spas, healthy restaurants and outdoor activities.

If that’s more your speed than a nightclub at 2 a.m., this is a weekend to keep an eye on.

Discover Dalí in Marbella

September is also a particularly good month for art lovers.

The exhibition “Dalí – Diez recetas de inmortalidad” continues throughout September and runs until 15 November 2026

The exhibition takes its name from Ten Recipes for Immortality, the extraordinary artist’s book Salvador Dalí created in the 1970s.

It’s an excellent cultural addition to a day when you want a break from beaches and beach clubs — particularly if you’re discovering another side of Marbella beyond its glamorous reputation.

More Art:

El poder de volar

Another exhibition continuing through September is El poder de volar, featuring work by Marifé Núñez.

The exhibition runs until 30 September 2026, making this the final month to see it.

Also continuing throughout the autumn is Habitar Raíces, which remains on the Marbella cultural programme until December.

September can actually be one of the nicest times to explore Marbella’s cultural spaces. You can spend the hottest part of the afternoon indoors and return outside when the streets cool down toward evening.

Marbella Half Marathon — 27 September

If your idea of a Marbella holiday involves running rather than lying horizontally beside a swimming pool, September has something for you too.

The Marbella Half Marathon is scheduled for 27 September 2026

Even if you’re not participating, sporting events bring a different energy to the city and can be fun to watch while you’re exploring.

And running beside the Mediterranean is admittedly not the worst setting for 21 kilometres.

Try a Private Jewelry-Making Experience in Marbella Old Town

Not everything worth doing in Marbella needs to involve a major organised event.

If you’re looking for a more personal experience — particularly something creative to do as a couple, with friends, or during a girls’ trip to Marbella — try making something of your own.

At L’Essenziale Jewelry in Marbella Old Town, private jewelry-making experiences offer visitors the opportunity to create their own piece using pearls, gemstones and other materials.

Rather than buying another conventional souvenir, you leave Marbella with something you’ve actually made here.

The experience can be arranged privately, making it particularly lovely for couples, mothers and daughters, small groups of friends, birthdays and other celebrations.

And because every stone and pearl is a little different, the finished piece becomes a very personal reminder of your time in Marbella.

Tip: Book ahead rather than simply arriving at the boutique, particularly if you’re travelling as a group.

Spend a Morning in Marbella Old Town

September is also an excellent time to rediscover the Casco Antiguo.

Start relatively early, before the middle of the day, and wander without too much of a plan.

The narrow streets surrounding Plaza de los Naranjos hide independent boutiques, cafés, galleries and small businesses between the more obvious souvenir shops.

Look upward occasionally, too. Marbella Old Town is one of those places where balconies, painted shutters, bougainvillea and tiny architectural details are half the attraction.

Stop for coffee, browse the shops, have a long lunch and don’t try to turn the Old Town into a checklist.

It’s much better when you get slightly lost.

Go to the Beach — Without the August Crowds

Of course, September in Marbella still means beach weather.

One of the pleasures of visiting at this time of year is that you can still enjoy the Mediterranean while the intense high-season crowds gradually begin to disappear.

Spend the morning swimming, have lunch at a chiringuito and leave your more energetic sightseeing until later in the afternoon.

Or do absolutely nothing.

Marbella is rather good for that too.

Visit Puerto Banús — Then Discover the Other Marbella

If it’s your first visit, Puerto Banús is worth seeing at least once.

Walk around the marina, browse the luxury boutiques, admire the cars that occasionally appear to be competing with the yachts for attention, and stop somewhere for a drink.

But don’t make the mistake of thinking Puerto Banús is Marbella.

The Old Town offers a completely different experience: intimate streets, independent shops, traditional architecture and a slower atmosphere.

Doing both gives you a much better understanding of the contrasts that make Marbella interesting.

Make September About Experiences, Not Just Places

The best Marbella itineraries aren’t necessarily the ones with the longest list of attractions.

Book a long lunch.

Go swimming in the morning.

See an exhibition when the afternoon becomes too warm.

Make a piece of jewelry.

Dress up for an evening event.

Spend an hour wandering Marbella Old Town without Google Maps.

Watch the sunset somewhere along the Mediterranean.

September gives you enough summer to enjoy everything Marbella is famous for, but often with a little more room to breathe.

And perhaps that’s exactly why those of us who know Marbella well have such a soft spot for this time of year.
