2 Days At Lake Viñuela in Spain

Spread the love

Spain continues to surprise me with its amazing locations and unusual experiences. I would never guess that Andalucia could be a great destination to spend a weekend by the lake but apparently, it is. This weekend we went to the spa hotel on the lake Viñuela in Malaga province and I was totally delighted with this trip.

Only 2 hours driving from Marbella and we found ourselves in totally different scenery and gorgeous surroundings of the local nature.

The lake was actually bigger than I expected and later on I found out that this is the main source of water for the whole city of Malaga.

Where to stay

We stayed in the beautiful B bou Hotel La Viñuela & Spa just a step from the lake with gorgeous view from our balcony:

The rooms are good size, cute and well equipped with all necessary facilities and amenities, like shower, bidet and in-room safebox. The mattress and pillow were very comfortable too, so I had a great night sleep and felt really rested in the morning.

The hotel is especially popular for hosting special occasions – weddings, birthdays and so on. This weekend was no exception. And although there was a big wedding celebration, everything was very well organized for not disturbing the rest of the guests.

What to do

Relax, relax and again relax. We started with a glass of wine in the cute little bar on the ground floor next to reception:

Continued with the swim by the pool with salty water and finished the evening in private Spa.

Actually, the Spa needs special mention as it is worth coming here just for the stunning views from the jacuzzi room. You need to book it in advance to get a private access to the Spa area, where apart from jacuzzi you will find a steam room, sauna, and relaxation zone. You can really spend hours and hours just relaxing in warm jacuzzi and enjoying the lake view.

The hotel also organizes multiple sport and leisure activities on and by the lake, for example, canoeing, hiking, cave tourism, rappelling, and various cultural visits.

Where to eat

We had a dinner in the main restaurant and I totally loved the gastronomic experience.

I recommend you to try grilled octopus and also local delicacies, like for example, Gazpacho Andaluz and tuna salad.
