Building a home is a huge undertaking which requires a large financial investment and finding the right builder needs to be one of your key considerations.  Choosing the right home builder is one step closer to achieving your dream home. When looking to build a home then you need to be comfortable to ask your builder any question that you need important.  The builder, on the other hand, should be able to answer your questions confidently. There are very many questions that you can ask your builder but here are five questions which you need to ask them.

1. How long have you been building?

This is an important question because you will be looking for someone who has experience and a number of years in building. The builder that you select must be someone who has been able to build a reputation and someone who can show you their portfolio.  It’s important to look for someone who can show you their track record of the building they have built and some of the prices they have charged in the past. 2. Do you have references?

This is another very important question that you need to ask a home builder, the home builders who have been building for a while should have a reference who you call. These are the people who the builder has worked with before, and they can vouch for them. When you get the name, it’s important to call and find out things like the relationship they have had with the builder or if there were any issues which they encountered during the home construction process.

3. What is the schedule?

In construction it’s all about the schedule, the home builder must be able to give you an estimated time frame that it will take for them to construct you home. You need to know when each stage of the work will be completed. The importance of this is for benchmarking purposes and also to help you keep track of your progress.

4. What types of homes do you build?

There are many different types of homes that are built today; there are urban, contemporary, traditional, classical house and many others. Many builders’ like to specialize in two or three types of homes and knowing the kind of house that the builder specializes in will help in determining if they can be able to build the kind of house that you are looking for.  You also need to know if the builder can be able to do custom home construction.

5. How will we keep in touch?

The builder must be able to provide you with different ways that you can be able to keep in touch with them. You need to agree on the most effective way of communication which is suitable for both of you to make sure that you can get in touch quickly in case of anything.
