Five Fun and Easy Ways to Create Your Own Artworks (Even if You Think You’re Not Artistic)
Everyone enjoys making art when they’re children, so don’t let the fact that you believe you have little artistic skill stop you from having fun creating your own artwork.
Whether you want to make art to display in your home or just find a creative activity to engage with, here are five fun and easy ways to create your own art.
1. Create a Collage
You don’t need to be able to draw or paint to create a collage. The artistic bit is selecting the right imagery and placing those images onto a canvas, board, or another surface in a creative manner.
You could cut out pictures from magazines and/or print out images from the internet. Then, all you need to do is cut them out and stick them to your surface to create a design of your choice.
You could go with a themed collage, such as a jungle picture, or you could let your imagination run wild and create inventive collages that would give Monty Python’s Terry Gilliam a run for his money.
Creating collages can be great fun and they’re really easy to make.
2. Turn One of Your Photos into a Cartoon
If you are looking for something just as fun but even simpler and less time-consuming, try turning one of your photos into a cartoon with the help of BeFunky’s Cartoonizer tool, which uses artificial intelligence to add cartoon filters to your photos.
You can make photos look like cartoons with a single click. So, have fun playing around with different images.
You could turn photos of yourself, your family, your friends, your pets, or anything else into a fun cartoon. And you don’t need to have any artistic talent at all!
3. Use Adult Coloring Books
Coloring books are no longer just for kids. You’ll find a wide range of adult coloring books on the market, so whatever theme you’re looking for, you’ll be able to find a suitable adult coloring book.
While the images will already have been drawn for you, you have the opportunity to put your own stamp on them by selecting the personal colors you like.
Furthermore, with an adult coloring book, you can have lots of fun coloring all of the different images in a single book and then cut out your favorite, mount it, and hang it on the wall.
4. Play Around with Play-Doh
If you fancy yourself as a bit of a sculptor, try making a sculpture out of Play-Doh.
Seeing as Play-Doh comes in many colors, you can create a bright and funky sculpture in no time.
You may even find you have a talent for sculpting and decide to attend a pottery class to take your newfound artistic skills to the next level.
5. Paint or Draw a Picture
Even if you think you’re not artistic, everyone has some degree of artistic skill. And creativity isn’t only about learning how to draw figuratively, for instance. Anyone can paint abstract expressionist works that display their emotions.
So, try some different ways of painting and drawing. Do whatever comes naturally to you. You could end up creating an abstract masterpiece or a beautiful piece of naïve art.
You should also spend time playing around with different materials.
If you fancy painting, you can choose from acrylics, oils, and watercolors.
For drawing, consider pencils, colored pencils, chalks, crayons, and charcoal.
The important thing is to spend time trying out different things and having fun in the process.
And if you find you are having lots of fun with one medium and are creating better artwork than you thought was possible, you could always take an in-person or online course to learn more about things like technique and composition.
