3 Question to Ask Yourself Before Your First Outdoor Trip

Spread the love

It’s adventure time! That’s great, but before you leave the town full of excitement, prepare yourself for surprises that you could face on the way. First times are always a little bit stressful, so keep on your toes and ask yourself those three questions.

What Should I Take With Me?

Pack up carefully. Wilderness is unpredictable, and you need to take a different set of items than if you were going on all-inclusive holidays to Egypt. Check the backpacking gear list, and ensure that you have the essentials that will enable you to survive.

Then, check once again if you packed up everything from the list. A moment of inattention could lead to severe consequences in the forest if you forget a knife or sleeping bag!

Where to Go?

Your first outdoor trip destination shouldn’t be particularly extreme. Even if you are hungry for adventures, remember that it doesn’t have to be your last trip, and with greater experience, you can choose wilder routes.

Don’t attempt to do the impossible, and pick the campings spots that aren’t dozens of miles away from civilization. We know ourselves only to the extent we have been tested for. It’s better to try the safe option first, so that, the worst-case scenario, you’ll discover that outdoor trips are not your cup of tea.

How Much Money Would I Need?

Don’t be tempted to travel with empty pockets. You can never know what can happen on your way. Be prepared for unexpected expenses. Maybe you will be a hitchhiker and need to pay a car driver if you get lost? Or the shelter you were about to sleep in happens to be closed, so you’d have to bribe the owner? Anything can happen on an outdoor trip, so take enough money to feel that you are safe in extreme circumstances.
