1. Bed Bugs

Bed bugs are particularly nasty pests as they like nothing more than sucking our blood whilst we sleep. They are very tricky to see because they are so tiny and just look like little brown specks. The most effective solution to deal with bed bugs in your home is steamers to remove bed bugs that disinfect your home, kill all the bed bugs, and prevent them from returning. There are various steam cleaners available, so make sure you do your research and find one with the best reviews.

While a steamer is effective once you already have a bed bug infestation, preventing them from ever entering your home should always be your first goal. When you stay in a hotel, always wrap up your luggage to stop them from stowing away in your suitcase. Next, vacuum it thoroughly when you get home to suck up any particularly crafty ones.

2. Cockroaches

While bed bugs can cause itchy sores and a bad night’s sleep, cockroaches can cause a serious case of the heebie jeebies. Cockroaches are probably the most hated pests that we find in our homes and can be particularly tricky to deal with because they are so good at hiding. You will probably be totally unaware of your cockroach squatters for a really long time until one night you happen to spy one scuttling across the kitchen floor whilst you are getting a glass of water. The problem is that where there is one cockroach, there are usually many more hidden out of sight.

Once you have a colony established, there are many powerful anti-cockroach sprays that will poison these notoriously resilient pests. Spray the poison around the corners of rooms, in particular anywhere where you find droppings, and over the next few days, you will just have to sweep up their dead bodies. Some people trust in baking soda or coffee traps, but the reality is that cockroaches are so difficult to kill that it usually takes some heavy duty chemical spray to deal with them.

3. Ant Infestation

By far, a significantly less troublesome pest than bed bugs and certainly less disgusting than cockroaches, ants can still be a source of great annoyance. Ants are attracted to food, and colonies will send out scouting parties in every direction to try and find food to take back to the nest. The problem is that once they have identified a source of food, they will keep coming back again and again. Even just a few crumbs or a grain of sugar that you missed when cleaning your kitchen is enough to bring these little critters in their hundreds.

There are many effective ant traps now that can be deployed in your house and permanently solve the ant infestation issue. These traps contain poison, which the ants get on their bodies and take back to their colony. This poison is slow acting, so the ant will not die until it has got back and infected the other ants.

Once the queen is poisoned and dies, the ant colony will disperse, and the ants will all die. To prevent ants from ever coming into your home, try to be really diligent when cleaning, especially where there may be traces of food like your kitchen or dining room. It is worth remembering that ants always build their nests outside, so try to locate the nest and deal with it at the source or plug up any holes which they are using as entry points into your home.
