Spread the love

Ever heard the saying that, ‘your past that you so passionately hate is someone’s future that they dream about?’ Well, that is just how life is. It is therefore not strange to come across someone who has never been to an airport their entire life. Some just do not have any business going there while others are not fortunate enough to have the liberty of making that choice. I have been around many airports and for sure, you cannot see one and be content. The confusion, anxiety and delight all tied into one is exactly what you feel in any airport for the first time.

Are you wondering about luggage assistance, food, and drinks or parking assistance at the airport? There is danger in asking the wrong person but that is not something you should be worried about. Right here is where all queries on American airports are answered and today we will put Orlando International Airport (MCO) on the spotlight. Guess what? All this information is free of charge!

Orlando International Airport

Overview of MCO

Do you know where downtown Orlando is? Drive 10 miles to the southeast and you will not miss it. Talk of the busiest airports in the United States and MCO falls comfortably within the first 15. JetBlue, Southwest and Frontier have this airport as their focus point. At the Orlando airport, there is one main terminal which has been split in half to make two. The airport also consists of 4 airside concourses; Airside 1 and 4 are for international use.

Whether you have been to other airports or not, the Hyatt Regency stands out. It stands out particularly because it is built within the airport. There is quite a lot of movement around MCO from local bus services as well as typical airport transport like hotel shuttles, taxis and shuttle vans. Those who have access to the commuter rail system in Orlando can also access the airport.

Did you know that Orlando is the world’s largest car renting market? If you are looking to hire a car, find the several agencies located in Terminal A and Terminal B. Your internet life does not have to stop when you are within Orlando airport because Wi-Fi is free.

When it is time to eat

Orlando International Airport has a huge range of eating options which are the food chains that most of us are already used to. Care for some Ruby Tuesday or Wendy’s? Over to Airside 3! Who is up for Outback Steakhouse or Burger King? Head on to Airside 4.

Well, that is not all because even us that have the occasional budget provision to spend more will get unique eating options from Urban Crave. Situated in Airside 1, this is a new airport food concept that serves street food with a modern twist. Also to be found on Airside 1 at the Orlando International Airport is Mexican restaurants and grills. I sometimes just want to have something light before I travel or I try to cut down on my food expenditure at the airport so I head over to Airside 3 for Cuban coffee with a Cuban sandwich to accompany it. Airside 3 is also where lovers of Asian and American restaurant foods will feel at home.

What to drink at the airport

After a particularly stressful flight, or on occasions when you want to just get inside the plane with a light head, Airside 1 has provisions for that. At the French wine bar is a collection of over 100 wines sourced from different parts of the world (you will find vintages here, too). Cocktails and beer are served too and you might just taste something that will calm your moods in a way that you never thought possible.

I know how people go round looking for that one thing that seemed to cause them inner peace. I make a point of taking a picture of the wine bottle or at least write down its name for future reference. The Le Grand Comptoir is to many people a new restaurant and bar concept that serves food and drinks simultaneously. If you are not at this French restaurant, at least sample margaritas, craft beer glass wine or bottled wine from any of the other places for a bargain.

Things you must do at MCO

Frequent travellers definitely have things they want to do at the airport either before they board or when they alight from a flight. Do not leave MCO without soaking in the view of art exhibits for both permanent and temporary pieces. So much space has been dedicated for art at this airport that it is not only allowed inside but also outside on several green spaces.

No need to have a tour guide inside the MCO because I have severally taken walks all by myself of Terminals A and B.

Do you enough time to go sight-seeing? Some green spaces and parks near the airport will not only provide for great entertainment but I have also found them to be cool social spots. Airport Lakes Park for instance, is just a few miles from the airport.
