Unusual Use Of The Usual Wallpaper
Good evening all!
Incredible heat in Moscow is followed with incredible rains. It’s been pouring all night long and in the morning I had a feeling that I would need a boat instead of the car. To be honest I had a big temptation to cancel all my meetings today and not to get out from my warm bed where I was lying with my laptop, hot coffee and sweet Dolce (my dog).
However summer rain in the city has its own beauty. I love that all streets (even the Red Square!) suddenly become empty, the air is full of freshness and flurry flower smells and in the meantime I can allow myself to be a little bit gloomy and melancholic…
One benefit from this weather is that I can fully concentrate on my work without regrets that I sit at home when everyone else is having barbecues in the countryside. Or I can also finally clean the house and sort out all pending tasks. One of these things was to share with you vignette, which I was recently styling:
As you can see I’ve used a lot of layers, vintage items such as old typewriter that add character and natural objects that give a fresh feel to the overall composition. One thing which I did is that I covered books with wallpaper which was used for the feature wall in our room. I really love how the books look now and I thought it would be cool to write a post about the creative use of ordinary wallpaper. I browsed the web and found some really inspirational ideas that everyone can try at home.
The first one is that you can use wallpaper with the bold and colorful pattern inside of the walk-in closet or entrance hall. It will visually divide the space plus it is very practical for the heavily used areas:
You can also experiment with combining different patterns on one wall. This will usually work, if you use wallpaper with similar design or from the same collection:
And how about making a bold and colourful screen to divide the space?
Another idea is to use it as cupboard covering. On the picture below I really love the mix of different prints used in one space:
Wallpaper can be used not only outside but inside too! You can upgrade like this your old bookcases, sideboard or closet:
Creating a wall decor with plain cardboard and wallpaper can be a very fun and very easy DIY project and it would definitely create a focal point:
Another example of using wallpaper – now for revamping a chair:
