Before and After: My Living Room Makeover

Spread the love

It’s been a while since I promised to share with you my recent living room makeover, but as usually with decorating  it is a never ending story: you always want to add new details and think of additional touches. Actually to be able to stop is something, what every interior designer needs to learn as well.

So here is how our living room looked like when we just moved:

I was really irritated with these sandy neutrals and dirty pinks. I decided to go for dark hues and implement peacock + dark blue colour scheme with some bright accents. Overall I wanted to create a very relaxed and cozy atmosphere with some oriental flavour.

The oriental rug was hand woven and it helped me to hide unattractive wooden flooring, plus it gave so much coziness to the room. I used Berber cushions from my boutique to dress the sofas. Photography on the walls are the zoomed images of vintage door that I found in the city.

Yes, I already put my Christmas tree – not yet decorated though, but I already have an idea how I will do that this year.

Old dining chairs I just recovered with new fabric and they immediately started to look very fresh and new. In fact, if you want to make a very quick and inexpensive room makeover, re-upholstering chairs is one of the easiest ways to do it.

I painted the wall behind the shelves and media equipment in salmon colour, which corresponds so well with dark blue and turquoise ceramic plates.

Below the media centre I organised small place for my dog. I made her bed myself from the same fabric as the sofas. You can read the full tutorial how I made it here.

Styling coffee table is always my favourite part of interior decorating. This time I have used three incense burners as little vases, magazines, candle holders and ceramic cup with branches of thuja, which gave composition a very festive and winterly look.

By the way, for styling the shelf I have borrowed several decorative plates form my boutique, where we have new arrival of them, for example this stunning hand painted turquoise platter:

I hope you enjoyed this project and as usually I am anxiously waiting for your comments. Also, if you have any questions, regarding my living room makeover, e.g. how i did this or that, please do not hesitate to ask me.
