11 Best Restaurants in Marbella for Dinner: A Local’s Guide (2026)

From traditional Spanish tapas and fresh seafood to romantic courtyards and sophisticated dining, discover my favorite places for dinner in Marbella Old Town.

Marbella is famous for its beautiful beaches, luxury hotels, and glamorous beach clubs. But when it comes to dinner, some of my favorite restaurants are hidden in the narrow streets of its charming Old Town. Having lived and worked in Marbella for years, and running my jewelry boutique, L’Essenziale Jewelry, in the historic center since 2019, I’ve had plenty of opportunities to discover its restaurants. What I particularly love about Marbella Old Town is the variety. Within a few minutes’ walk, you can enjoy traditional Andalusian tapas, fresh seafood, Italian cuisine, or an elegant candlelit dinner in a beautiful courtyard.

Here are 11 restaurants I recommend for dinner in Marbella, depending on the atmosphere and experience you’re looking for.

1. El Boquerón — Best for Spanish Tapas

If you’re looking for excellent tapas in Marbella, El Boquerón is one of my favorite recommendations.

Located on Calle de la Cruz, this lively restaurant combines traditional Spanish dishes with more creative options. It’s the kind of place where you order several plates to share, enjoy a glass of wine, and soak up the atmosphere of the Old Town. The restaurant is particularly popular, so expect it to be busy, especially during summer evenings.

Best for: Tapas, informal dinners, and sharing plates with friends.

2. El Patio de Mariscal — Best for a Romantic Courtyard and Live Opera

One of the most memorable dining experiences in Marbella Old Town is El Patio de Mariscal. Hidden behind a traditional Andalusian facade, the restaurant has a beautiful, intimate courtyard filled with character. The food is Spanish and Mediterranean, but what makes this place particularly special is the entertainment. On some evenings, a member of the restaurant’s team performs opera, transforming an ordinary dinner into something quite unexpected. It’s a wonderful choice if you’re looking for a romantic dinner with a little extra atmosphere.

Best for: Romantic evenings, Spanish cuisine, and an unusual dining experience.

3. Casa Eladio — Best for Contemporary Andalusian Cuisine

Just across from Patio de Mariscal is Casa Eladio, a more sophisticated choice for dinner. This family-run restaurant combines traditional Andalusian ingredients with contemporary cooking techniques and elegant presentation. It has also earned recognition in the Michelin Guide. I particularly recommend it to visitors who appreciate creative cuisine and would like something more refined than a traditional tapas restaurant. The atmosphere is elegant without being overly formal, making it a lovely option for a special evening.

Best for: Contemporary Spanish cuisine, food lovers, and special occasions.

4. Romeo Chic Osteria — Best for an Elegant Italian Dinner

For Italian cuisine, Romeo Chic Osteria is another lovely option in Marbella Old Town. Rather than a casual pizzeria, it’s a more sophisticated Italian restaurant, with carefully presented dishes, pasta, and a romantic atmosphere. Located on Calle Virgen de los Dolores, it’s an excellent choice for couples or anyone looking for a slightly more elegant evening. It’s also within a short walk of our jewelry boutique, L’Essenziale, so this is a particularly familiar part of the Old Town for me.

Located within La Fonda Heritage Hotel, part of the prestigious Relais & Châteaux collection, the restaurant offers an elegant setting in the heart of Marbella’s historic center. I particularly appreciate its sophisticated atmosphere and beautiful surroundings. Some evenings feature gentle live music, creating a romantic ambiance without overwhelming conversation. It’s the kind of restaurant where you might want to dress up a little and enjoy a leisurely evening.

6. Bar Altamirano — Best for Fresh Fish and Seafood

For traditional Spanish seafood, Altamirano is a Marbella classic. Located in a charming little square in the Old Town, this restaurant focuses on fresh fish, shellfish, and simple Andalusian preparations. It’s a very different experience from Marbella’s more elaborate fine-dining restaurants. Here, the attraction is the seafood itself. If you’re visiting southern Spain and want to enjoy grilled fish, prawns, or traditional fried seafood, this is one of the places I would suggest.

Best for: Fresh seafood, traditional Spanish cooking, and a relaxed dinner.

Bistro Paloma is a small restaurant on Calle Ortiz de Molinillo, very close to our boutique. It’s one of those places that can be easy to overlook while walking through the Old Town. What I particularly appreciate is its carefully selected menu. There isn’t an overwhelming number of dishes, but the food is thoughtfully prepared and consistently enjoyable in my experience. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate, making it a lovely choice for a relaxed evening when you want good food without too much formality.

Best for: Couples, intimate dinners, and a carefully curated menu.

8. Casa Curro — Best for Sophisticated Spanish Tapas

Casa Curro offers a slightly different approach to traditional Spanish tapas. While the atmosphere remains relaxed and authentically Andalusian, the emphasis is on carefully selected products, including Iberian ham, cheeses, seafood, and wines. It’s a little more sophisticated than a conventional tapas bar, making it an excellent option if you appreciate quality ingredients and enjoy ordering several small dishes. I particularly like this kind of restaurant for an evening when you don’t necessarily want a formal three-course dinner.

Best for: Premium tapas, Spanish wines, and sharing plates.

Casanis is probably one of Marbella Old Town’s most recognizable restaurants. Located on picturesque Calle Ancha, it’s famous for its charming facade, beautiful decoration, and romantic atmosphere. The restaurant combines French bistro influences with Mediterranean cuisine, making it a lovely choice for an elegant evening. It’s also one of those places where people frequently stop to take photographs, even when they’re not dining there. Where Should You Have Dinner in Marbella Old Town?

It really depends on the kind of evening you’re planning. For authentic Spanish tapas, I’d choose El Boquerón or Casa Curro. For fresh fish and seafood, Altamirano is an excellent traditional option. For a romantic evening, El Patio de Mariscal, La Fonda, and Casanis all offer distinctive settings. If you’re looking for more sophisticated cuisine, Casa Eladio and Romeo Chic Osteria are worth considering. And for a relaxed dinner in a beautiful courtyard, The Farm is a lovely choice. One of the best things about Marbella Old Town is that all these restaurants are within walking distance of one another, so you can easily enjoy an evening exploring the historic streets before dinner.

A Little Shopping Before Dinner

If you’re visiting Marbella Old Town, I recommend arriving a little earlier to explore its charming pedestrian streets, independent boutiques, and artisan shops. Our own boutique, L’Essenziale Jewelry, is located in the heart of the historic center. We create Mediterranean-inspired jewelry using natural gemstones, pearls, and distinctive handmade designs. Many of our pieces are inspired by Marbella itself, making them a lovely souvenir of a holiday on the Costa del Sol. Whether you’re shopping, enjoying a glass of wine, or discovering a new restaurant, Marbella Old Town is particularly magical in the evening.

Final Thoughts

Marbella has no shortage of beautiful restaurants, but some of its most memorable dining experiences are found away from the beach clubs and large hotels. For me, the charm of dining in Marbella Old Town lies in its atmosphere: narrow cobbled streets, hidden courtyards, historic buildings, and an incredible variety of restaurants within a small area. These eleven places offer something for almost every occasion, from a casual tapas evening to a sophisticated romantic dinner. And whichever you choose, I recommend taking some time to wander through the Old Town afterward. It’s one of the most beautiful ways to experience Marbella.
