Marbella in Spain has a very beautiful and very unique landscape – sea from one side and mountains from the other. La Concha is the most famous peak here rising 1200 meters above the sea level and hence a popular hiking destination. The difficulty is average so you don’t have to be the master of sports if you want to climb it.

This weekend, equipped with amazing High On Leather backpack that I got recently we decided that’s it’s time to do some sports activity. Actually, there is a hiking road starting directly in Marbella and it will take approximately 2 hours to get on the top of La Concha. However, since we were not yet in shape to do that we thought it will be better to start with the easier route – from Refugio de Juanar where you get by car.

The road has several amazing viewpoints and we stopped there to take enjoy breathtaking views and take pictures of the local villages lost in the middle of the mountains.

White houses with terracota roofs look so cheerful and inviting under the bright Andalucian sun!

My High On Leather backpack was a great help during this trip – I put there a bottle of water, an extra shirt, sneakers, mobile phone, and sunglasses. Backpacks are great for the activities like that – your hands are always free and your back doesn’t feel tired since the weight is distributed equally between two shoulders. This one is made of pure natural leather and I totally love it is vintage and a bit rustic look.

When you arrive to Refugio de Juanar you get amazed by the surrounding nature. Coniferous groves, huge boulders and eagles in the sky were our companions during this leisure walk. Despite the temperature didn’t go  below 10 degrees at night yet, the trees got ready for the winter season. Yellow leaves looked especially vivid contrasting with evergreen needles.

On the way we saw olive groves, pine trees, berry bushes and walnut trees.

And I noticed that my brown leather bag was exactly the same colour as leaves on the road – I guess inspiration taken from nature!

For Chipi it was his first ever walk in wild nature and despite my worries he acted very calm and relaxed.

Although all roads were pretty accessible and simple, it is crucial to wear comfortable shoes if you want to take this route. Also, please note that most likely your phone won’t have mobile coverage on La Concha. However,  in case of emergency you can always dial 112.

This time we didn’t make it to the top of La Concha since got very tired. We ended our walk at mirador de Juanar where we saw incredible panoramic views on Marbella and Costa Del Sol Coast. We have noticed a beautiful statue of a mountain goat – animal that actually inhabits this area naturally and if you a lucky you will see them live.
