How To Clean An Iron?
The history of irons shows that humans have been using them since ancient times. Over 2,000 years ago, the ancient Greeks used hot metal cylinders to iron their clothes. In the 17th century, charcoal irons emerged, resembling modern designs. The electric iron was invented in 1882 and has continuously been improved and enhanced over the years. Nowadays, due to the increase in synthetic fibers in clothing, which are often resistant to wrinkles, irons are becoming less necessary. However, some noble fabrics made from natural fibers still require ironing. To ensure your iron functions well and does not leave dirty marks, it is important to keep it clean.
Why do you need to clean the iron?
Residues from certain fabrics can transfer to other garments, leaving dirty marks or unwanted shine. Additionally, dirt on the bottom and inside of the iron can damage its components, resulting in a shorter lifespan for the appliance.
How to clean the bottom of the iron?
If the bottom is not very dirty, you can simply clean it with a cloth, water, and soap. However, if fabric residues are stuck to it, a highly effective method is to mix salt and vinegar in equal proportions. Slightly heat this paste (without boiling) and apply it to the bottom of the iron, gently rubbing its surface.
How to clean the iron inside?
Fill the water reservoir of the iron with a mixture of water and vinegar. Set the iron to the maximum temperature and allow it to produce steam. You can use an old piece of cloth to release the steam, ensuring that you don’t leave any marks on your clothes or ironing board.
