New adventure! Last Friday I finally arrived to Armenia where I joined my husband who moved here before me because of his job.
Armenia is a small mountainous country in the South Caucasus, famous for its fine ancient architecture (primarily churches), scenic mountain Ararat where Noah arrived with his ark, lake Sevan with purest waters and the most delicious apricots in the world. The capital of Armenia is Yerevan: a very small yet very charming city with almost no traffic jams, beautiful alleys with plane-trees and very warm and welcoming people. The first impression was just great. Here I am on the central street, flying from happiness:
Of course, right on the next day of my arrival we went exploring local crafts shops, art galleries and flea markets. I must say that flea market in Yerevan (it is called “Vernisage” ) is one of the biggest and the most interesting I have seen. If you ever have a chance to visit Yerevan, this place must be definitely on your list to go.
Each counter had something interesting on display, everything was beautiful and of finest quality. Here are some of my finds:
Handmade copper jugs in oriental style, perfect for adding some oriental touch to the room.Believe it or not but some of these artifacts are 4000 years old. Plenty of them were found in Armenia during the construction of nuclear power plant and now you can find them… on a flea market! As usually it is problematic to get them out of the country. I also love the colour combo on this photography – turquoise, soft pink and brown, it could be a wonderful palette for decorating a room.I am a big fan of ceramic hand painted plates in oriental style and even started to make my collection. These just took my breath away. Completely handmade, they have a very unique and typical for Armenia design. And these come from Iran…Looking at these amazing objects I am thinking that Iran should be the first on my “must visit” list.Armenia is famous for its wooden and stone carving works. I adore these amazing jewellery boxes. All the drawers are sliding in and out as if they have little rollers, though they don’t and it is achieved by finest quality of work.Another example of amazing carving work – beautiful wall clock. And the chessboard converts… in elegant side table!Again carvings! But now in contemporary style. What do you think about these cute little tigers?or these lovely elephants?Colourful cushion covers resembling oriental kilims: I think it is a perfect choice for balconies, terraces and patios as this fabric is very durable and strong.Of course there were plenty of oriental rugs as well, though I consider flea market is the worst place to buy them. Still sometimes you can find interesting pieces. This carved wooden bottle holder works only on the principle of equilibrium. Don’t really like the design but the idea is very interesting.
I am considering to purchase some of the items for selling in my online boutique and I really need your recommendations. Which of the products did you like? Looking forward to hearing your comments.

Spread the love“Ok, so what do we need for fabric dyeing?” – I asked. ” Paint, fabric, brushes and water” – he said. “And that’s it?” “That’s it.” At this moment I remembered the quote of my favourite actress Michèle Mercier: ‘Everyone knows the seven notes of the octave, but only Mr. Luli knows how to compose…
