How To Make Outstanding Decor With Vintage Doors

Spread the love

Walking recently through the streets of old Baku I was fascinated by numerous antique doors I met on my way. Richly decorated with carvings each one of them had different design and its own character. It seemed that they all keep a secret, probably many secrets of people who lived in these houses for many years:Antique doors, Baku, photo by: Anna KovalchenkoAntique doors, Baku, photo by: Anna KovalchenkoVintage doors, Baku, photo by: Anna KovalchenkoVintage doors, Baku, photo by: Anna KovalchenkoAntique doors, Baku, photo by: Anna Kovalchenko

Vintage doors can bring lots of inspiration to interior designers. They can become a feature that will make an interior space look unique and outstanding. I have collected several examples on how vintage doors can be incorporated into the decorative scheme.

1) Make a photo, put in the frame and hang on the wall

Images of vintage doors can become a wonderful decoration for your walls. The beauty of the picture will be enhanced if you add passe-partout and put it in an elegant frame.

2) Make it the focal point of the room

Vintage doors can provide a focal point of pattern, colour and texture. Simply attached to the walls they will make an interior space look unusual and dynamic. You need to make sure though that you supplement them with another vintage accessories or furniture so that they will not look out of space. As a focal point vintage doors will look great in a living/dining room:

or in a Bedroom:

3) Install vintage door on rollers

Who said that outdoor vintage door can not be reused in your interior space? By putting it on rollers you can combine design and functionality. It will become a wonderful space-saving decision for bathroom or pantry:

4) Hide the media center

By using vintage doors you can tastefully remove the equipment out of sight and convert a media room into a cozy living room for long chats. For example, TV and audio equipment is hidden behind the armoire doors in this living room:

Re-purposing old doors can be an endless source of inspiration for interior decorators. By painting them in different colours you can match them with any colour scheme. Yet you need to be conscious that it fits the decorative scheme of interior space: antique doors will look amazing in cottage or country style house however might look inappropriate in modern hi-tech apartments.
