DIY Furniture Renew : How To Remove Stains From Wood
Last year we shared with you how to build a Folding Bar Table to add to your garden or terrace. It was part of a big project renovation to create a cozy Chillout area.
One year has passed now, winter, cold and rain have done their work and our bar table needs renovation for the upcoming Summer !
This was an opportunity to show you how we take care of wooden furniture that stays outdoor all year around. Remove stains from wood can be tricky, so here is our video to help you though the process.
Sanding
The first step in obtaining a good result with renovation is to sand the wood. Sometimes it is done incorrectly, and that is why you have to be careful, since this step is one of the important points to obtain a perfect varnish or prepare the wood for paint. We give you some tips to know how to sand wood properly.
The purpose of sanding is to remove marks from saws and brushes, and to level and smooth the surface, allowing a perfect adherence of the paint or varnish to be applied. You should also consider which type of sandpaper is more convenient by checking the type of wood, the type of piece (solid or veneered) and the equipment to be used for sanding.
In our case, we chose a 120 sand paper to remove big water damage and the mark left by some objects on our bar table.
Remove Stains From Wood : Varnishing
If you never decided to varnish an object, furniture or part of your house, we want to tell you that you can do it … it is not a difficult task. It may be somewhat cumbersome at first, it is true, but with a little practice you will improve the technique.
Outside wood furniture, tables and chairs that must withstand sun, rain and other factors, it must be protected with good quality varnishes. The best in these cases are synthetic or alkyd varnishes. Much better if they have a UV filter for better protection of the color.
