Is Laminate Flooring The New Alternative To Carpets?
Carpets used to be the standard flooring type that people would have in their home, however, the trends on this in the UK has changed a lot over the past decade. People are now opting more for laminate flooring and there has been a shift of opinion. Originally, you would only find laminate flooring within the house on the living room or maybe the hallway floors but nowadays, any room fits.
We see this appearing in the kitchens and bathrooms more and more. Why are people now changing their opinion on this and are we going to say goodbye to carpets in the UK? Here are some of the reasons why we believe that the trend is taking place and wooden floors are the preferred option.
Ease of installation
There is no need to be buying wood in piles and then trying to lay this on its own. The click wooden flooring option is now probably the most purchased type of wooden floor, mainly down to how easy it has been made for people to lay. The flooring does what it says on the can and ultimately when you are laying this, you only need to click this into the adjacent flooring. There is still a little bit of work needed for preparation where you will still require measuring and saw. There are specific toolkits that you can purchase alongside the laminate floor that has all the tools available for you to complete the measuring and sawing.
It lasts for Years
Laminate flooring can last for many years without having to be replaced. This is all dependent on how it is treated with respect but ultimately, it is not something that needs too much care and attention. Even if you are someone that has pets, there is no real hassle in terms of cleaning and maintaining the floors. This is in comparison to carpets where cleaning and maintaining is not as easy and if there are stains or marks induced, it could be difficult for them to be removed.
Laminate Flooring isn’t Expensive
Depending on the specific quality of flooring that you purchase, the overall cost of the flooring is not expensive, and it is on about par with what it costs for a carpet. Where the extra costs will come in are if you are purchasing new underlay, tools or paying someone else to install it on your behalf. If you make sure that you check online for prices and look at various retailers (specifically during sales seasons like after New Year), you are likely to get a good bargain.
Laminate Flooring : Our Verdict
Wooden flooring is clearly becoming a more popular alternative to carpets with most new build houses also seeing this as the default option. This does not mean that we are waving goodbye to carpets yet where some people still have the personal taste that these are the preferred option.
