Our Boho Chic Terrace Makeover Reveal
The last couple of weeks we were busy with several ongoing projects and one of them was our own terrace, which we decided to convert into a lounge area. Summer is coming and it will be so cool to have a cocktail there enjoying the spectacular sea view. Before we did any changes this is how the place looked like:
Located on the roof of our house it was abandoned and never used. Its a pity because this outdoor room has lots of potential and as soon as I saw it IÂ thought how cozy and relaxing it could be.
We didn’t have much budget for this makeover, so decided that mainly we will do everything ourselves. We started by creating additional privacy and separating our terrace with the wooden screen from the neighbor. It is not screwed to the wall but has a special mount, so if you want you can remove this screen at any time.
The next step was to make a shadow – the sun in Spain is very active and without any protection, in summer this terrace is resembling a working oven. We bought these cane thatching and attached it to the beams.
The large daybed is made from pallets which we polished and covered with protective varnish. Beautiful cushions are from the Eyes of India and I totally love how they instantly gave our terrace Bohemian, coastal look.
The giant cushion on the floor is from Billbelly, we use it now as an additional seat or as a backrest when sitting on the day bed. The full review of this product can be found here.
One DIY project that I am especially proud of is two swing chairs that Philippe has made of bamboo and canvas. It is quite a time consuming and difficult project, but totally doable. The full step by step tutorial you can find here.
Another project that he did was this foldable bar table, which could be easily removed and attached to the wall. This is a great solution if you don’t have much space in the room and could be applied in the kitchens of studio apartments. The bar stools are By Crea. The full tutorial of the foldable bar table you can find in this post.
The last touch was to add some decoration and natural plants to the terrace, that instantly made it look more lively and cozy.
What do you think of this project? Looking forward for your comments!
