How To Make Your Bathroom Remodel Go Faster
The renovation of the bathroom often takes longer than we expect. Sometimes it depends on things that we can not influence: for example, the amount of time the plastering takes to dry. However, often it is the result of a poor planning. Below are some useful tips that will help you to make your bathroom remodel go faster.
1. Finding simple solutions
Avoid choosing complex devices that require more time for installation, for example, concealed mixers, wall hanging bidet and toilets. Concealed mixers are almost impossible to change without replacement of tiles, so if you want to equip your bathroom with latest technologies, make sure that you find quality products, like for example, these Aqualisa power showers. Minimize the number of devices in your bathroom: instead of installing a toilet and bidet, consider a toilet with a bidet function.
2. Sourcing
All materials and plumbing fixtures should be purchased simultaneously and at the start of the renovation works. This will help minimize the risks of their incompatibility and you will have time to make returns or changes if this is required.
3. Online shopping
Construction supermarkets are time wasters. The purchase of materials and sanitary ware online can significantly save the time.
4. Flooring
The floor level in the bathroom should be determined by the height of the sewer riser and the necessary slope of the pipes leading to the sanitary ware. Accordingly, the thickness of the floor should be planned based on these parameters, so that you do not have to build a podium later on for the bathroom or shower cabin to fill the missing slope.
5. Technological pauses
To minimize the time of bathroom remodel choose those materials that dry faster. If you have a level concrete floor you can tile directly to it which significantly reduces the time of the renovation. Alternatively, you can buy an underlayment of cement board which you can cut to measure using a circular saw.
6. Storage solutions
If the design of your bathroom has built-in cabinets, make sure to order them as early as possible to avoid waiting for production and installation later on. Bear in mind that manufacturing of custom cabinets takes at least three weeks and installation another two or three days. If you are in a real hurry to finish your bathroom remodel, sometimes it is easier and faster to buy ready-made cabinets (for example I have bought  IKEA cabinets for this bathroom remodel project) and you can always enhance them with original fittings.
8. Tiling works
Choose a tiles layout that requires a minimum of trimming. In some cases, it is possible to choose a tile which has the length that if multiplied coincides with the length of the room: this will eliminate the trimming almost completely.
Choosing tiles of a larger format will also speed up the work. When using large-format tiles, the number of seams to be grouted is also minimized.
Consider alternative finishing materials – for example, mounting a large-format mirror on a wall surface is much faster than installing the tiles.
9. What you should not forget in the rush
Don’t forget installing the forced ventilation system. It helps to get rid of excessive moisture, prevents the formation of mold, preserves materials such as wood and MDF.
When performing electrical wiring, make sure that all the sockets and switches in bathrooms have the  IP44 rating (protection from the intrusion of water).
