Planning Your Next UK Holiday Adventure
Is it time to start planning your next holiday? Fancy somewhere where there is lots going on for the kids or somewhere tranquil where you can simply take time out from your hectic daily routine to relax with the family? We have a list of some amazing destinations in the UK for you to visit this summer:
York
If you enjoy spending time in a city but like to be somewhere a bit more quaint and full of character than the busier UK cities, then York could be a nice holiday idea. As well as there being loads of places to explore around the city centre, the seaside resorts of Whitby and Scarborough are just a short drive away for a day of fun, should the weather turn out nice. Within York there is plenty to do, such as a visit to the National Railway Museum, The Chocolate Story, The York Dungeon and many more fun activities.
The Isle of Man
The Isle of Man is a 20-minute flight from Liverpool Airport and is full of lovely places to visit. People often describe the island as taking a step back in time because most of the island is untouched. It is for this reason that it is often selected for filming scenes for TV programmes. Motorsports enthusiasts flock to the Isle of Man for the annual TT Races, so if you want to avoid the busiest time of year plan your trip outside the dates for the TT. Douglas is the busiest part of the island but you will find that the other towns are quiet and tranquil, with nice beaches and great countryside walking trails.
NewquayÂ
For those who like to visit the beach even when holidaying in the UK, one of the best places to go is Newquay. Watergate Bay is rated by many as the top beach in the UK and it consists of two miles of sand and is a haven for surfers. It is also a great place for people who enjoy exploring coastal walking trails. Newquay is a place that attracts plenty of campers and there are numerous caravan sites in the area. Take a look at Allens Caravans holiday options.
EdinburghÂ
If you enjoy the entertainment of the music or comedy variety then a visit to Edinburgh during August for the Fringe Festival has got to be top of your holiday destination list. The city is filled with exciting performances ranging from local musicians to international comedians. The great thing about it is that a lot of the entertainments is free or very reasonably priced, meaning you do not have to spend a fortune. You can also find a local campsite rather than fork out for expensive hotels.
Lake WindermereÂ
If your family like an action-packed holiday then the Lake District is ideal. You can choose from a wide range of different watersports activities, take hikes up the mountains, or visit The World of Beatrix Potter. Fell Foot Park is a beautiful place to visit, with rowing boat hire and other activities to keep the kids entertained all day. There is a wild play area that is a very popular attraction for children.
Freshwater West, PembrokeshireÂ
Harry Potter fans may recognize this stunning beach from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Boasting one of Wales’ most stunning beaches, it attracts surfers and families of holidaymakers. Pembrokeshire has plenty of action and adventures including castles to visit and wildlife areas to explore. The Secret Owl Garden is one of the top days out for families in the area.
