My Valentine’s Favorites: Romantic Ideas For a Short Getaway
If you are a romantic person St’ Valentine’s Day is probably one of the most important and favorite holidays for you. It is always a hard decision for any man or woman to decide on a gift idea for a loved one. Many people would go for a dinner in a fancy restaurant, romantic bedroom decorations with rose petals and candles or a bath with aromatic essential oils and champagne.
Creating romantic surprises is not easy – it is all about spontaneity and arranging something that the other person wouldn’t expect from you. So how about organizing a romantic getaway this year?
To give you some hints I have collected this list of ideas for you to get inspired.
-
Picnic on the beach
If you are lucky and live in a warm climate near the beach, it is a shame to miss the opportunity and not to arrange a picnic for you two by the sea. Just a heads up, sand will be inevitable and you should consider it when making your preparations: don’t forget a large tablecloth, as well as an extra set of a tableware in case it gets dirty. Another thing to consider is a shade – especially if you are going to make a picnic during the day or early evening.
In terms of food think of something that is easy to prepare, carry and serve – for example, toasts with jamon, cheese platter, fruits. If you are a wine lover go for some light and fruity wines, for example, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, champagne or prosecco. Making cocktails can be very entertaining so this can be a part of your picnic menu. Popular beach cocktails include Caipirinha, Bellini and Tequila Sunrise.
Checklist of things to take with you: something to seat on (rugs, cushions or towels), tablecloth or folding table, food and drinks, unbrekable tableware, shade, candles, music (for example, portable speakers that could be connected to your phone via Bluetooth) and some decor (flowers, shells, candles).
-
Picnic in the forest
This idea is again for countries with a warm climate in February. Surrounded by nature with birds singing and fragrant herbs and flowers, you will find yourself in the most whimsical and charming atmosphere. One thing to consider is annoying insects and mosquitos. Don’t forget to bring with you mosquito repellent and folding chairs and tables to prevent creeping insects to crawl over your body and food.
-
Dinner at a mountain chalet
Another idea for a romantic getaway can be secluding yourself in a mountain chalet. Surrounded by snow and forest you will find yourself in the most intimate and fascinating ambiance. Romantic idyll usually involves fireplace, candles, warm plaids and a hot bath.
In terms of food think of something warming and satisfying – you will probably need to restore your energy after skiing all day. Meet, fondue and mulled wine are some of the ideas to include in your menu.
