Generally when one is planning to start a small venture, one of the many options that comes to the mind is tutoring or private tuition classes as it is low on investment if you can run the business from home or even a small rented area.
But there are various aspects of setting up private tuition classes that should be considered before setting up the business. Let us have a look:
What are the qualifications that are necessary for tutoring?
This is the basic need that has to be fulfilled to set up private tuition classes. Parents, as well as students, prefer to get tutors which are highly qualified, or from reputable tuition agencies. Higher the qualifications higher can be the fees the parents are ready to shell out. The age group of the students you will tutor will depend upon your qualifications. Graduates in language and humanities can tutor children in subjects of English and social sciences and the graduates in the science field can tutor children in the subjects like math and science to students from the primary section to 12 standard level. If you are a post-graduate then you can also tutor college students.
What here matters the most is not just the qualifications but your knowledge of the subject and your ability to make the students understand it.
Setting up the business
If you are facing financial difficulties and if planning to start on a small venture, then it is recommended to set it up at your residence as it helps to save the rentals that have to be paid for a commercial place. The room that you assign for the place for tutoring should be devoid of all distractions like the noise of television, playing children, honking horns etc. The room has to be airy and bright and large enough to set up seats and tables for at least 6-8 students. It is advisable to keep a few stationeries like pen and pencil handy.
Make your new venture known
After you have finalized on the place of business and finished setting it up, advertise it. If your venture is low key, word of mouth publicity will work the best for you. To start with you can contact your friends which you know have children who might need tutoring for their tuition assignments. And if you have kids you can tell them to convey their friends and let them know about the launch of your private tuition classes.

As we said earlier, that for a low key venture word of mouth is the best publicity. Once your tuition batches are commenced you will witness a snowball effect. It is a common tendency of parents and children to recommend good tutors to each other and if you are good in your field to be ready to handle parents and children who will fall over themselves to enroll for your services.
