Vintage Oriental Rugs
Hello, hello dear friends! The week was quite busy and can’t believe it is already Friday. Wishing you all a relaxing weekend! and here in this post wanted to share amazing vintage oriental rugs, that I’ve received in my boutique.
1. Vintage Soumak Rug from Dagestan, Russia (flat-weave)
This tribal style rug was handmade in Dagestan in 1960s. It is in excellent condition – it was hanging on the wall and there are still sewn eyelets on the reverse side. This rug was hand woven in the region Tabasaran and is a classic example of the weaving traditions of this region. Cheerful ornament with ancient archaic symbolism – a protective circle, the tree of life, solar symbols, the cross, the land of paradise and flowers.
2. Vintage Persian Carpet “Bakhtiyar”, 1950s
Vintage hand-woven Persian carpet of high density: 110 knots to the square inch. Warp – Cotton, pile – wool of high qualit, dyed with natural colorants. In excellent condition.
Origin – woven in by nomadic tribes in Bakhtiari region, central Iran. The tradition of carpet weaving in this area dates hundreds of years. Carpet distinguishes cheerful floral design and harmonious colors.  The plot of the carpet – the Garden of Eden and the Tree of Life.
3. Vintage Persian Carpet Hamadan
Stunning vintage Persian carpet from region Hamadan with very unusual and intricate design – it was made in 1950s, measures 204 X 135 cm. In excellent condition. High quality carpet with density 80 knots per 1 sq inch. Warp – cotton, pile – wool. Natural colorants. The carpet is very soft and pleasant to touch.
4. Antique Carpet Baluchi from Afghanistan, 1940s
Antique rug from Afghanistan. Soft and delicate, it was dyed using only natural colorants, which never fade or shed. Beautiful subtle red colour palette and design with geometrical patterns. It has very high density – 120 knots per 1 square inch. 100% sheep wool. In good condition.
5. Vintage Afghan Rug Balichy, 1960s
This carpet is very soft and thin. 100% sheep wool. Yarn was spun and dyed by hand with natural colorants. Handmade in Afghanistan in 1960, in good condition (no holes or defects). Origin – woven by Baluchi – nomadic tribes in the southwestern parts of Afghanistan. Traditional geometrical patterns and beautiful red and blue colour palette.
6. Vintage Turkmen Rug
Vintage Turkmen carpet from 1970s. 100% sheep wool. Very accurate and delicate work. High density: 150 knots per 1 square inch. In wonderful condition. Origin: the rug was hand woven by Afghan Turkmen living in the North of Afghanistan. Dark colour palette and traditional ornaments with solar signs are characteristics for the rugs made in this area.
