Black and White Inspiration from Frjor

Spread the love

Hello, hello my dear friends and Happy Sunday! How’s your preparation for this Christmas? It’s a lovely day here in Moscow. I’ve just bought several buckets of stunning stucco paint from Italy and so anxious to see how it will look like in my room… So I already know what I will be busy with these holidays 🙂 .

Today I want to draw your attention to the label that I am lately in love with: it is called Frjor and it produces some of the most original and stylish porcelain I ever seen. The company was opened in Germany by designer Anna Becker in May 2014, and two months later, in July it launched its first range of porcelain bowls in black and white patterns.

The name “Frjor” in Icelandic means “creative, fruitful”. The idea to open her own company producing porcelain came to Anna’s head during her stay in Iceland. “The people living there are so creative and always realize their ideas. They always do! They write books, make music, arts. They have no fear of failure….”, says Anna.

Before making the real bowls, Anna has drawn the pictures of them and showed to several shop owners in Germany. Many of them said that they actually will be interested to sell them. The first 50 pieces Anna had hand painted herself, today the bowls are made and printed in a porcelain manufactory, which is the subsidiary of the famous Rosenthal.

All the bowls are decorated with abstract ornaments in black & white. What I love most about these pieces is their multifunctionalism and the ability to creatively use them at home. Thus, stacked they look like decorative vases, if turned around they can be used as candle holders. The bowls are also food safe and can be washed in a dishwasher. In bathroom they will become a perfect solution for storing amenities:
