Creating a Visual Lighting Proposal for Interior Design Project
In today’s post I want to share with you my my progress with the project for KLC School of Design. Just finished the visual lighting proposal for my virtual clients.
This is a starting point in creating a lighting design, as first of all you need to first understand how much light you need and where to allocate it. So, for this project I was not ask to specify actual light fittings.
I have taken my furniture plan and then using a yellow crayon showed where and how the light will travel, explaining the type of light, i.e. task, ambient, accent, etc.
On my plan:
- General light from chandelier
- General light from ceiling led panel lights
- Accent light from floor lamp
- Accent lights from recessed ceiling lamps
- General light from chandelier
- Task light from wall lamps
- Accent lights from ceiling recessed LED lights
Apart from making this visual proposal, I have prepared the written explanation explaining in detail, which effect I want to achieve:
Dining room
The spectacular chandelier over the dining table will create a sense of theater as well as become a focal point in the room. It will provide sufficient light for serving the food as well as allow people to see what they are eating. Accent lights from recessed in a ceiling LED lights will highlight the photography and the mirror on the walls. The overall effect will be enhanced by reflective surface of the mirror. Wall lights above the drinks cabinet will provide additional task light for seeing the items stored in it.
Living / Reception Room
Beautiful chandelier over the seating area will create drama and interest in the space, since it will be the first thing the guests will see, while entering the room. Since it might not be enough for the room to be well lit, several additional recessed in the ceiling LED lights will be installed along two walls to provide general light in the room. They can be dimmed to suit the mood and time of the day. The TV area, which will be camouflaged with sliding panel and painting on it will be highlighted with accent lights from recessed ceiling lamps. It is the focal point of the room so its main task will be to make this area stand out. Accent light from a floor lamp will have primary decorative functions.
