L’Essenziale Choice: 10 Bold And Beautiful Wallpapers
This post is not for those who like pastels, neutrals, discreet, wishy-washy, Scandinavian and white. The selected wallpapers would rather suit those who are not afraid to experiment, being different, original, bold and extravagant.
The first four places are occupied by wallpapers from Barnaby Gates, a UK based company, creating, as they declare themselves “wallpapers with a quintessentially English feel”. Founded by ex Vogue Living Editor Vanessa Barneby and fashion illustrator Alice Gates, this brand can be defined as classical but with contemporary twist. Wallpapers often have luxurious metallic finishes – silver and gold, which results in their various appearance at different lighting.
I just could’t decide, which from the selected Barnaby Gates wallpapers is my favourite, so I decided to include them all. All of them are so different, and all worth attention:
1) Coral, BARNABY GATES.
A very new and original vision of underwater world: golden fish on a charcoal background. Metallic shimmer creates a very interesting effect, and you can spend hours gazing at beautiful inhabitants of the ocean.
2) Deer Damask, BARNABY GATES
I just love this wallpaper with golden stag skulls and thistles. The colour combo is rather luxurious: claret and gold. Â This stunning wallpaper is very glamorous but with a rustic feel, I would probably picture it in the hunting room of a splendid chaeteaux.
3) Paisley, BARNABY GATES
I am in love with Paisley pattern and I just couldn’t skip this stunning interpretation of it. Very bright and vivid turquoise on rather soft and muted taupe background. It is perfect for adding your room and oriental twist:
Next three wallpapers are from Timorous Beasties, a design studio from Glasgow, known for their provocative and dreamlike wallpapers and textiles. If the Surrealism is your favourite genre, have a closer look at these astonishing products, which are actually artworks:
4) Iguana, TIMUROUS BEASTIES
I don’t know what is more about this wallpaper to me – scary or enigmatic? Huge salamander is attacked by carnivorous plants and there is no way for her to escape. Black and gold colour palette add masculine chic to this absolutely terrific wallpaper:
5) Another fantasy from TIMOROUS BEASTIESÂ – Opera Botanica.
This wallpaper is like a hymn of life – seems that everything is moving, breathing, surviving in this phantasmagoric Garden of Eden.
6) Butterfly, TIMOROUS BEASTIES
What? Butterflies? This is for nurseries or, at worst, kids room – you will probably say. I assure you these butterflies you will not want to place in your child’s room. Enormous, gigantic creations would rather resemble characters of fantasy movies than little pretty bugs we seen in our summer house.
7) Fishes. DE GOURNAY
One more plunge in the ocean, now with De Gournay. I just love soft and muted colours of this wallpaper. Like on the picture, it is perfect for creating relaxing and meditative mood in your bathroom.
8) Deco Monkeys, DE GOURNAY:
Playful monkeys and lush vegetation will remind you of tropical jungles and travels to exotic countries:
9) Coco De Mer, RALPH LAUREN
Coco De Mer is the fruit of the palm tree, which exists only in one place on the planet – Seychelles Islands. The Valley de Mai, where these remarkable plants grow is an unforgettable sight. Seems, that this wallpaper fills the house with the smell of exotic plants and mysterious sounds of jungles.
10) Zebras, SCALAMADRE
One of the most iconic and recognizable designs of all times:
