Let’s ‘Day Dream’ Home Designs

Spread the love

Daydreaming gets a pretty bad rap; especially if you’re caught being ‘off with the fairies’ at work. It tends to get associated with laziness as those with wandering minds get written off as being absent-minded people who can’t get their head out of the clouds. Regardless of what others label it as though, everyone, and I mean everyone, loves to day dream – after all, we spend close to 50 percent of our waking lives doing it!

Sometimes it’s just nice to daydream, to sit back lost in your own thoughts. What’s even better than that though is daydreaming about your dream home. One so extravagant, so luxurious and so breathtaking you begin to pinch yourself and promise you’ll make that dream happen one day.

Some of you may have your dream home – or elements of it – for the rest of us though, let’s do a little daydreaming and take a look at some lavish home designs that will make you delve into your own personal oasis of relaxation and awesomeness!

Blurring the Line between Indoor and Outdoor

There is nothing more spectacular than merging the outside world with the inside. It not only creates the perfect summer entertaining spot, but makes a space filled with opportunities that can be used all year round.

An indoor / outdoor Jacuzzi is an ideal way to construct a luxurious and indulgent area in your home. Complemented by entertaining features like the outdoor cooking and dining area, or walk-in wine cellar with floor to ceiling glass walls –  you have just created your own slice of heaven.

A relaxed spa-like area can also be built to merge outdoors with indoors. Crafted with natural materials, it can make an impeccable space to retreat in after a long day.

Bringing Nature Inside

Incorporating elements of nature inside the home can also help to blur the line normally so distinguished between outdoors and indoors. Natural stone fireplaces in the lounge and family room can add beautiful warmth to the area and a fantastic focal point.  Stone sections can also be incorporated into the kitchen to keep a consistent feel to the home without going too overboard. For homes with an active fireplace, how about storing the firewood in a cleverly crafted stone wall?

In the bathroom, creating a pebble stone shower floor can make you feel like you’re living in a tropical paradise (not to mention the soothing foot rub you will get whilst you’re in there!).  This looks amazing with neutral style bathrooms and gives it a unique, subtle touch.

For bathrooms needing a full makeover, wood tiles can work beautifully and give the space an outdoors feel to it. The tile effect can be created with small squares of wood and be combined with brightly coloured mosaic to add some flair.

Fish Tank Bonanza

If you have children, suffer from stress or still have a youthful spirit inside you – then a fish tank bonanza will serve you hours (and I mean hours!) of entertainment. One of the best stress alleviates is fish watching. There’s something soothing about water and the characteristics of fish that can lower blood pressure, help you unwind or simply calm down that hyperactive child.

So, it’s no wonder that choosing an aquarium for your living room, bedroom or office will be beneficial in all aspects, and turn a very dull space into a luxurious one with an amusing and creative looking centre piece.

Aquariums allow for as much freedom and fun as your budget and creativity desire. They can effectively get all your senses working – from the sound of bubbles to the colours of the sea inside the tank, and plants to enhance the fishy design.

Depending on how extravagant you dare to be, they can be built into the walls of your home, as part of your bedhead, bath tub or coffee table. For those that just want a quicker-fix of fish tank bonanza, standalone tanks can still do the trick. With options from fresh water, tropical and salt water sea critters they can be a fun way to complement the existing décor of your home by experimenting with the amazing range of colours and breeds.

Over the Top Balcony Pools

If your dream home has a balcony, there is no better way to truly enjoy it than by turning it into an over the top balcony pool. Not only does it look absolutely spectacular, but it will take lounging around in the pool to a whole new level.

Glass Wall Views

Especially a good one if you have the advantage of living on a more secluded property that looks over the water, mountains or terrace – rooms with glass walls offer a ‘take your breath away’ view.

Homes built with glass walls have the natural beauty of sunlight oozing in with a seamless design that opens up the space – another wonderful way to blur the lines between the outside world and inside. Whether you’re waking up to the impressive views through the glass walls in your master bedroom, or stepping into it first thing in the morning to enjoy it from the lounge room, these exceptional designs can transform your entire home into a deluxe dream.

A Different Light to Lighting

Contemporary wall sconces can take lighting and design a step further and bring the room together in a homely and stunningly simple way. Depending on the mood you want to set, wall sconces can bring artificial lighting to the space or take a more romantic, softer approach with scented candles.

Wall sconces can take on a more vintage, antique appearance or a modern, sophisticated look to complement a room. If you’re feeling really arty, you can use recycled bottles or jars to create your own too.

A Dog’s Treat

For the animal lover, there is absolutely no reason why your pet dog can’t join on the luxury fun. Homes with e staircases make the ideal opportunity to create a dog house underneath – their own, personal retreat!
