Which Animals Will Be Trendy in 2014?

Spread the love

Beginning of the year is usually the time when everyone is talking about future trends. Though I already made my predictions for 2014, I want to talk in deeper details about one design move, which I personally love very much: animal accents. They were used in interior decorating for many centuries but in the last years they have reached its peak in popularity. On the  market you can find probably any creature existing in nature: from foxes and lions to elephants and rhinos. Still there are some species that for some reason get greater love from designers and artists than the others. Here is my forecast for 2014 about which animals will be especially popular in interior design:

1) Enigmatic owls were probably the most favored animals in 2013 and they will be as such in 2014. We see lots of fashion accessories such as belt buckles, pendants, earrings and so forth. In interior design, they are presented in the form of decorative figurines, lamps, prints and appliqués on throw cushions.

2) Funny pug-dogs and bulldogs. These little pets that have conquered the hearts of designers, this year will be presented always in a funny, sometimes in little kitschy way:

3) Deers, stags, rams and other creatures with horns. Faux taxidermy has confidently replaced real trophies: no wonder as they are more funny, more eco-friendly and designers can be as creative as they when they make them.

4) Clumsy penguins and serious pelicans got attention quite recently but if you want to lift up the mood and bring a light-heartness to the room I strongly recommend to get a closer look at them:

5) Colourful parrots and mysterious ravens are another representatives of the avian community that will rise to prominence in interior decorating in 2014:
