Essential Trend: Antique Map Wallpaper

Spread the love

I love maps…

Exploring and tasting in my mouth quirky names of the cities, where I’ve never been… or finding places that I’ve seen when my memories like butterflies fly in my head.

Most of all I love antique maps. When I look at them I can see explorers of the past, bending down over them and creating route for the journey, which never was done before.

I think it is a great idea to use vintage map as wallpaper. They are very casual, but at the same time luxurious. You can use them in traditional style interiors, paired with classic furniture and probably some vintage pieces – for example, antique trunks or suitcases. Alternatively, you can apply them in modern spaces, in combination with contemporary furniture and accessories, which will result in very eclectic look.

One thing you should consider that map wallpaper requires some space: you can’t put it on the wall and then hang  hundreds of pictures or photographs on it.

Below are maps from Wallpapered, which I particularly like. Comparing to modern maps, antique are coloured in very muted and calm tones, which makes them very cozy and stylish. It is possible to use them, practically in any room. They look awesome in a living space or dining, but also you can use them as a feature wall in a bedroom:
