Beautiful Christmas Packaging Idea: Ombre Envelops
It is not unusual for the Christmas rush to have already started when we frantically run around the shops choosing presents for our family and friends. Though I am usually stuck with what to give and I always feel nervous about what I am giving and if a person will like that present or not, one of the things which I love to do is to think about beautiful gift wrapping (check out my Pinterest board with some cool ideas that I’ve already selected). Although I continue to see that plain brown paper is still the most popular choice for wrapping, I decided to make mine a little bit more colourful. So this year I am making Ombre packages! I think they turned out very cute and it is incredibly easy to do them (honestly it took me only 15 minutes for each envelope).

You will need:
- Envelopes
- White gouache
- White thin paper & paper scissors
- Paper glue
- Fir twig
- Thread
Instructions:
- I started by painting the envelopes first. To create an ombre effect I mixed watercolor and white gouache – I started with the lightest tone and then gradually added more and more pigment. Let it dry for around 10 minutes.
- Next, I’ve made the paper snowflake – to do that I have used the following designs (it was easier than I’ve expected to make one, the key point is to mark with a pencil the areas that you are going to cut and to try to make them as thin and small as possible). The paper needs to be folded 4 times. You can use this guide to make paper snowflakes. With a thin brush and black paint, I wrote the name of the person on the snowflake that I’ve made.
3. When the envelopes were dry I’ve simply attached my decorations: the fir twig with a black & golden thread and snowflake with a paper glue. Voila, my envelopes were ready!
The best thing I love about this packaging idea is that it is very easy and affordable. It would be fun to make some more in different colours and with various decorations – I am planning to try it with twigs, dry leaves, beads, lace and fabric leftovers.
