Which is all about staying happy in winter and keeping cozy. In Denmark they hardly see the sun during the winter months, having less than eight hours of it a day. So it makes sense that they are the ones that created the concept. But how can you embrace hygge in your life and home this season? Here are a few examples for you?

Create Light

As there is so little light in winter, it is important to create light around us. So you can counter all of the dark nights and mornings by using scented candles, string lights, or perhaps even an open fire. It will not only help to create a more cozy atmosphere at home but help you to feel physically warm and cozy too. Reading a book by candlelight is a great way to embrace the hygge feeling in your life.

Though you may feel like just hibernating, it doesnā€™t mean that you should. Try to look for the lovely things that happen in winter. It could be decorating your home with some winter themed accessories, like ornaments or themed blankets or throws. It is a great time to slow down a little and refocus for the year ahead. Celebrating the things of winter isnā€™t just about Christmas or festive decor. There are some specific things that you can keep up until you start seeing spring, such as reindeer ornaments, sparkling string lights, or wreaths and foliage. They all help to give a feeling of winter inside the home, without screaming ā€˜Christmas.ā€™

Nesting Space

One great way to embrace hygge at home is to create a nesting space. It might be on the sofa that you already have, or in the corner of your bedroom. Just somewhere that can be cozy and comfortable. Getting cozy on comfy chairs or bean bags with a blanket and some thick socks are what the hygge concept is all about. So if youā€™re looking to get into this for the remaining winter weeks, browse for round chairs or bean bags online, and youā€™ll be all cozied up in no time. Beanbag seating is perfect for hygge as the low positioning creates a really chilled-out atmosphere. The bean bag filling molds to the body too so you can get perfectly comfortable.

Think About Color

If you want to go all out with the Scandi theme in the house, then start with a neutral base of white and perhaps grey. Then you can layer up with accessories and add pops of color. The Scandi way to decorate is all about making the space you live in a happier space so that those in it can be happier.
