5 Things to Change Up When Moving Out
Moving out of home for the first time can be many different things at once. It can, and often is, stressful, scary, exciting and tedious to name a few. There are many things to take into consideration when moving out, and more often than not things don’t go according to plan, however this isn’t always a bad thing, and we can often learn from these mishaps. The other side to moving out is getting to do lots of new things, which can be mentally and physically refreshing. Anything from going to Koala Mattresses to get a new mattress, to visiting the local electronics distributor to get a new television or sound system can be a rewarding and exciting experience for the new out-of-home-er. We have strung together a list of 5 things to change up when moving out, to help set your new home apart and make it your own.
New Bed
A great place to start when looking at changing up with a move is the bedroom.
New houses are stressful at the beginning, and moving takes a lot of coordination, so to be able to come to your new home and fall asleep at night on a fresh, new mattress is invaluable. Older, more worn down mattresses might be more familiar or comforting, but if they don’t allow for a proper night’s sleep they can turn a difficult move into a sleep-deprived nightmare.
Different Layout
It makes sense that when you move to a new house, you would take your old furniture with you. Not many people have the time or the money to move to an empty house and spend thousands of dollars on furnishing the entire place, so bringing your furniture is almost a given. One thing you can do to make the furniture feel as new as your new home is to rearrange everything. Don’t set up your new house exactly like your old one, find new places for everything, and make an entirely new setup.
Neighborhood Shift
It’s a good idea to move to an area you are relatively familiar with when you first move out. Moving to a new house with new house layout in a new suburb with unfamiliar transport and shop locations can be overwhelming all at once, so it’s a good idea to move to a new suburb that you are already partly familiar with. This will turn the act of learning all of your new streets and shops into less of a chore and more of an adventure, linking already known places with new ones.
Organizational Habits
For many people, the large list of disorganized items in their house is a dreaded and often avoided item on the to-do list. Moving house is the perfect time to organise, as everything in the house is already packed into boxes, and all the furniture is already clear of any other items. Take that disorganized mess and bring order to it as you put the rest of your items away.
Chores
Chores are, well, a chore to do. If you’ve been living in one place and have been stuck doing the same set of chores at that one place for a while, a move is the perfect time to change things up. Rearrange who does what, and the sense of bringing the same work with you will fade, making the new place seem even newer and more refreshing, and on top of that you will move one step closer to being totally self-sufficient in your house-cleaning abilities.
