Bold and Joyful Bedroom For Siblings To Share
In today’s post we want to share this beautiful project created by interior designer Stacey Gillies (from Stacey Gillies Interiors) and her Architect husband AJ for their two young children Frankie and Sam.
Stacey Gillies with her husband AJ and two children (Frankie and Sam) live on Auckland’s North Shore. By joining creative forces, they created this bold, yet very harmonious bedroom. Various layers of texture and eye-catching decoration add depth and interest to the space.
Originally the room was just Frankie’s, then the couple extended it just before Sam was born.
Stacey chose the deep purple feature wall for Frankie, as they knew they were having a girl. For the opposite wall she picked more gender neutral tone that would work well for a little boy, although they didn’t know they were having a boy when they painted the room. This color palette is pretty versatile and things like duvet covers and linen can easily be changed when kids grow up to suit current aesthetic.
The room has amazing views over Chelsea (a suburb on the North Shore) and the harbour to the Waitakere ranges. There is lovely sunlight that streams through in the late afternoons and it has a really nice feel about it.
The kids love that there’s a share space to play in, but they still have their own sides of the room. The teepee in the middle brings them together for reading books or playing hide-and-seek and acts like an added playroom.
Stacey found some amazing items to furnish and decorate the room, for example, a beautiful vintage cane headboard for Frankie and the colourful tassel garland from Etsy.
