If your walls are plain, or you’re decorating a small bedroom, you can add personality, interest and serious style points using a single item, detail or design concept. Think about a stunning king size bed for a one bedroom apartment, a wood-burning stove in a rustic living room, or a retro, brightly-colored armchair in the corner of an open-plan kitchen-diner. When you’re making a statement, you don’t need to do much with the rest of the room and this allows you to free up space and maximize natural light.

Be careful with color

The colors you choose can have a dramatic impact on the aesthetic of your home and the ambiance of each room, but they can also affect how open and spacious your living areas look and feel.
