Welcoming Hostel in the Heart of Hong Kong
The hospitality industry has been revolutionized by the rise of Airbnb; hostels and guesthouses have quickly become a popular alternative to traditional hotels. Younger travelers are looking for an organic adventure over the cultivated experience of traditional hotels. In today’s we want to share a beautiful project designed by the talented designers from studio Twenty’O Eight.
ATLAS is a well established hostel in Hong Kong, with a constant flow of travellers ranging from backpackers exploring Asia to businessmen stopping in Hong Kong for the lastest convention. When the ATLAS team came to Twenty’O Eight Studio with their expansion ideas, they understood that the new brand needed to reflect the attitude and energy of the young traveler.
They designed ATLAS 2.0 to feel energetic while still being comfortable and calming. With an incredible view, they designed a social lounge with a view of Hong Kong’s iconic mosque in Kowloon Park. A gathering place for travelers to meet people around the world and initiate a sense of community even during the briefest of travels. A mural by a local artist depicts the bustling streets of Hong Kong to reflect the energy and heartbeat of the city. The shared rooms are designed with customized bunk beds that optimize comfort while balancing privacy.
One of the walls in the common area is decorated with graffity that depicts the streets of Hong Kong reflecting its energetic and cosmopolitan spirit.
The room with bunk beds is decorated in tranquil, calming colours. Each bed is separated with movable screen for extra privacy.
Brick walls create a sense of warmth and planters with greenery look fresh and inviting.
