How To Choose Your Next Purse
The holiday season is fast approaching, and that can only mean one thing: it’s time to start curating your wish list, or start self-gifting at least! A purse is the perfect choice. A staple of any women’s wardrobe, a bag can make or break an outfit.
Don’t worry – here are some tips on how to choose the right purse to suit your lifestyle.
Look at your current collection
Have a look in your closet at the bags you currently own. Are there any gaps? Do you often find yourself thinking you need another evening bag, or perhaps your work wear needs a lift with a stylish, yet practical bag?
You may find that you’re lacking an everyday purse for a particular season. For example, a basket bag works great in summer, but not so much come fall, or a heavy dark leather satchel is practical in winter, but too cumbersome come spring.
Think about your lifestyle
You may well covet that cute clutch bag, but if you’ve got your hands full with kids and groceries, perhaps a crossbody or backpack style would suit you better, not to mention get more wear out of.
Similarly, if you often carry a laptop or tablet around, something structured that adds stability will work much better than a bookbag.
One that fits all your life in is a must, but be careful that you don’t overfill it. A bag that’s too heavy will end up causing strain on your back, neck and shoulders, so only carry the essentials.
Make a statement
If you normally wear black, why not inject a pop of color with your new purse to instantly elevate your outfit? Orange and khaki colors look great in all seasons, especially when paired with simple gold and silver jewelry.
Avoid matching your bag to your coat, but co-ordinate with other accessories for a put together look.
Choose a size and design that suits you
If you wear oversize clothes, choose a bigger bag in an unstructured fabric. Tall and slim women should opt for a bag in a rounder design to add width.
If you have broad shoulders or a large bust, consider a bag with a grab handle, or a shoulder strap. Try to avoid crossbody styles that accentuate these larger features.
Go for a classic design
A classic shape will never go out of style, and Radley offers iconic designs with a modern twist, such as pastel leather satchels, or jewel-toned clutch bags for an opulent look.
Ultimately, it’s how you feel about a particular purse. If you love it, and if it sparks joy, then trust your gut and get it, or at least write it on your gift wish list!
