How to Prepare Your Yard for an End-Of-Summer Barbecue
The summer months seem to have flown by but there’s still time to host a barbecue with friends and family. It’s a great way to wrap up the end of a season before you get back to your normal schedules and routines. To ensure that your guests have a good time, however, there are a few things you’ll want to do to be prepared.
Rent or Buy Lawn Furniture
Your guests need a decent place to sit while they enjoy their food and entertainment. If you don’t presently have enough lawn furniture available, you’ll need to get more. The good news is that since it’s the end of grilling season you’ll find a lot of deals on plastic chairs, tables, and umbrellas for your barbecue. If you’re not interested in buying or don’t host that often, there’s also an option to rent. It’s always best to get more than you need than just enough as you never know who will show up.
Treat Your Lawn
The worst part about sitting outside is the bugs. Mosquitoes, ants, and other insects get in your personal space, on your food, and even bite causing any annoying itch. As you want your guests to be comfortable, it’s a good idea to treat your lawn in advance. They have lawn products that will help to reduce the number of bugs in your yard.
Create a Dance Floor
If you’re going to have great music at your barbecue your guests are likely going to want to get up and cut a rug. As you set up the tables and chairs leave room for the dance floor. You can simply leave an open space in your yard, add pavers, or rent a dance floor for your guests.
Set Up Canopies
When setting up the food stations for your guests you want the food to be as protected as possible. Keeping it free from bugs and also in the shade so things don’t melt or spoil is a lot easier when you have a canopy. They’re very affordable, easy to install, and are ideal for setting up food tables. Be sure to set them up in advance so you’re not scrambling once your guests arrive.
Treat the Pool
If you’re fortunate enough to have a pool in your backyard, you’ll want to make sure that you’ve treated it so that your guests can swim if they’d like. Make sure that the pool has been cleaned and then use the appropriate solutions like chlorine to ensure the water is safe for swimming. Treating your pool can require you to avoid swimming for a few hours, so be sure to treat it the night before your barbecue.
Set Up the Bar
Where there’s a barbecue there’s always drinks. Whether you have an outdoor bar or not, you can create a station that makes it easy for your guests to pour their own drinks. A mini-fridge or cooler for the ice and a table or shelf to display your beverages and you’re good to go. If you really want your friends and family to have a great time at your barbecue, you should also order vape kits. Vaping has become a popular social pastime and can be fun at an adult-only event. Just be sure you review the vaping regulations per state as some places may prohibit you from ordering online. In this case, you’d need to visit a store to grab what you need.
Add Extra Lighting
Summer barbecues tend to go well into the evening hours after the sun has gone down. As partying in the dark is kind of hard, you may want to install some outdoor lighting. A few holiday string lights are a great addition and add aesthetic appeal. You can also add some landscaping lights near pathways.
When your guests arrive at your house for the barbecue they expect to be comfortable and have a good time. As long as you’ve taken care of the above-mentioned tips their expectations will be met. Now, all that’s left to do is go shopping for the food, drinks, paper products, and grilling supplies and you’re ready for an end-of-summer event of a lifetime.
