Color Meets Pattern In This Artistic Apartment in New York
This was the first project in the USA for N&G Ananiev Interiors – Russian architectural and design bureau founded in 2002 by Nadezhda and George Ananiev. The studio with five employees offers the full cycle of architectural and design works – from developing a concept to construction and project management. They work in different styles – from Art Deco to Mid-Century Modern, however, all their projects have their own signature characteristics: artisticĀ use of colour and pattern, love for art and overly fearless design schemes.
They claim that the strength of their work is the ability to create āvery individual tailoringā. In 2018, they opened their own gallery of vintage and designer NG Gallery items.
Nadezhda and Givi (Georgian way to pronounce the name “George”) met the owners of this property 10 years ago. The couple with four children purchased this property in the 1980s near New York and decided to make it their permanent address.
The owner imagined interiors in bright, vivid colours, in vintage style with a contemporary twist. The idea was to combine within one space bright walls, remarkable, outstanding furniture, and eye-catching, even provocative artworks.
In terms of layout. the first floor has a public area, which is a suite of rooms closed in a circle. Second floor was dedicated for the private use of the owners. The designers didn’t change the location of any walls, as they found that they perfectly fit their concept.
The music lounge is perhaps the central focal point of the whole house – an amazing mix of bright coloursĀ and playful composition of vintage and modern furniture.
One of the main performers hereĀ are mustard-yellow MAYA Armchairs from BRABBU, eye-catching addition to this living room design. This velvet accent chair has the perfect combination of sensual and delicate forms and due to its fierce color can invoke long and comfort conversations.
View from the hall to the āart roomā. This room is a true inspiration, as it understands and connects extraordinary color spectrum and fantastic textures to provide a complete sensory experience. Friends and neighbors enter this house like into a museum. And one must admit, itās a fair resemblance!
The main living room has incredibly beautiful wallpapers from Casamance, while the painting by Ilya Kabakov presents a serene nostalgic scenery in a nature-themed artwork.
Bedrooms continue the artistic, eclectic feel of the house. One is colored in saturated burgundy, another in dark teal, they invite to unwind and relax, read a classic book and contemplate exquisite artworks.
