7 Window Treatment Trends You Should Try in 2019
Freestanding bathtubs abound in the hearts of designers and architects in 2019. Other home design trends this year include blustery, dark emotional colors and prints on a wall or two. Black and white kitchens are in, and so is the color green.
And with these new home design trends, come window treatment trends to match and complement plus fabulous window treatments trending that make a statement all on their own.
But what exactly are the latest trends in window treatments, you ask?
We’ve put together seven of our 2019 favorites. Keep reading to see which window-treatment designs speak to you and then get ready to give your windows a new splash.
1. Half Shutters for Your Destination Bathroom
The term for the bathroom with the gorgeous standalone tub is “destination bathroom.” This means it’s a room where you want to not only take long, wonderful, relaxing hot baths but where you might read or meditate or look out the window in this spa-like refuge.
To go with your destination tub, enjoy half shutters. This 2019 trend is designed to let in the natural light while you soak and still offer privacy. Then, when you come out to meditate on the wood bench, you can open the shutters to gaze out the window at the resort-like landscaping. Or perhaps, look at the bustling NYC avenue.
White is nice and classic. It goes nice with pops of green plants and the complements of wood touches, like a bench.
2. Bottom Up and Top Down Shades
This 2019 window covering trend is on par with your half shutters for that destination tub. But it’s also trending in other rooms. Why? Because it lets in so much light and still offers privacy. Plus, the top-up shade easily comes down so that your window can be fully covered at night for privacy and coziness if you want.
These shades come in two parts. One starts at the top of the window frame. The other starts in the middle. The shades both roll up and down on their half of the window like other shades on the whole window.
3. Black Honeycomb Shades for Your Tuxedo Kitchen
Black and white kitchens are on trend in 2019, and we love us some black honeycomb shades to match. Why? They’re light and sheer and offset the strong colors.
They let in a lot of light when down and still add elegance to the room. Put up two shades side by side and mix and match open versus closed. By this we mean have one half open and the other three-quarters open. Go for the look and the right amount of light.
4. Light Blinds With Standout Walls
One ornate-print or bold-colored accent wall in a living room is in. So is a simple solid color on the window. Blinds are perfect for this look. Pick a light wood or white for balance. Keep the other three walls on the light side too.
This is such an easy window trend. And we love how it adds warmth to the room in a traditional rustic way. Go with simple budget blinds and you’re set. Nothing fancy-schmancy is needed. Keep that for the accent wall.
5. It Color Green
Green is the “IT” color for home decor in 2019. This means window treatments too in all shades. And by shades we mean colors. But you can go for window shades too.
Don’t make the whole room green, rather pick vibrant clusters. But you can layer different shades. For example, go with an evergreen couch and mint green shades or walls.
Yes, this means to have fun with green window treatments! We love green honeycomb shades and green sheer panels. We also love bright green shutters.
6. Shutters and Shades for Your Art Deco Look
Art deco is in this year, and with it we love solid hardwood shutters that you can paint for a fun pop to go with the style. Think bold. Think bright. Think clean lines and sunbursts.
Also trending are solid shades in the same bright colors. You can also go with brown or black with the shades since they are lighter in fabric. They add such a nice slate of clean-lined geometric shape. Think a rectangle of brown inside white window trim behind a willow green mid-century chair and a light blue sofa.
7. White Sheer Panels With Your Rustic Dinner Bench
Freestanding wooden benches are trending in 2019. They’re so much easier than building a bench into your kitchen eating nook or dining room. Add a few pillows for a pop of color and pair with white sheer floor-length curtains. This has such a wonderful rustic modern appeal.
The sheer fabric offsets the strength of the wood. Build a storage space into your bench and go nuts with sheer panels in a few colors that you can swap out. Although, we do love the white to simplify the look.
