2018 Espriu Art’s Collection: “9 Faces and an Eyehanded”
Eduard Alcaraz Espriu, an advertising agent who teaches marketing in a few Barcelona universities, started drawing and painting as just a hobby over two years ago. His mother was always interested in creative and artistic pastimes (naturally draws and paints), but she never wanted to show her work in public.
Now, little did Eduard know, that the releasing of his first limited edition of design drawings collection (100 copies per format), named “9 faces and an Eyehanded” would have the approval of many interior designers and decorators.
EspriuArt is the name of the brand to which the artist is referred, which comes from his mother´s surname. His family roots are related to Salvador Espriu, the recognized Catalan poet, dramatist and novelist.
In a communicative job like advertising, requires a high-level dose of creativity every day. Eduard has managed to insert into his artistic creations, in order to give each of them a geometrical sense and great decorative sensitivity. Each of these drawings, as mentioned above, has a limited series of 100 copies per format. 70×100 cm, 50x70cm and 21x30cm.
Another aspect, to consider about the EspriuArt creations, is that professionals as well as private sellers, can order from five different versions, with varied grammages and textures.
One can choose from the prestigious Conqueror Connoisseur of 300-gram paper, the Munken Polar (300-gram paper), Freelife Velum (260-gram paper), The Cyclus (200-gram paper) or the characteristic satin paper (250-gram).
Then, we expose some environmental applications of Espriu Art creations:
In the presentation of this catalogue (you can download it through this link), Eduard exposes the meaning of his first collection.
He mentions the high rate of insecurity and confidence that surrounds the current society: “We live in a world were billions of people are pretending to have an enormous sense of security, but at the same time, they are being conditioned by the approval and veneration of others. Therefore there is a need for a great deal of visibility, flattery and recognition.”
On the other hand, Eduard emphasizes nine attitudes that allow us to confront the life safely, and move people forward to achieve their goals and allow them to transmit their ideals to people around them:
“To counteract this excessive ambition, there are other parallel ways of acting that allow us to project ourselves on an emotional and rational aspect.” These attitudes are precisely embodied in nine of the ten creations of this 2018 collection. As we know, the human being is influenced by nature, and we must take advantage of it.
To conclude, the tenth creation reflects on what Eduard refers to as “the all-seeing eye” that he captured on his drawing “Eyehanded”. It symbolizes the fragility of the people’s privacy: “When we think that nobody is watching us, the current society is exposing their own privacy, using tools to make it easier than ever to show their most intimate sides of their lives. Your secrets end up being everyone’s gossip.”
