9 Budget-Friendly Ideas To Improve Your Bedroom
If you want some changes in your bedroom, but don’t want to invest in a massive makeover, have a look at these budget-minded upgrades which you can easily implement. I recommend to take a complex approach and realize several ideas at once.
Update Textiles
That’s probably the easiest way to completely change the look of your bedroom without doing any renovation works. In summer go for light textiles, bright colours, and floral prints, in cold season for heavy, luxury fabrics, like for example these crushed velvet bedding sets. Make sure to coordinate bedding and window treatment by colour and pattern, to avoid clashing combinations that are too striking for a bedroom. Choose fabrics and patterns that create relaxing, calming feel.
Add some greenery and flowers
Plants always bring life and relaxing atmosphere to any space. Flowers always create a joyful summer atmosphere. Put a bouquet in a designer vase, and if you want to strengthen the effect, place it opposite the mirror.
Create a feature wall
You can create an interesting designer feature in your bedroom by wallpapering one of the walls or a door to the dressing room. Choose prints that visually expand the space and raise the ceiling – for this purpose, a good option could wallpaper with the 3D effect.
Organize the space
Decorate one of the walls with shelves and place on them heartwarming trinkets – souvenirs, ornaments and children’s drawings. You can place such shelves in the niche above the bed if there is one or hang simple narrow shelves from IKEA that could be painted in different colours like I did in one of my projects:
Arrange a dressing room
A dressing area can be created in the corner of the bedroom. Take an example from clothing stores: all that you need is simple railings and curtains. Or just put simple clothes rack and neatly hang your outfits on it.
Place a ladder shelf
To store books, plants and accessories place a ladder shelf. Unlike a bulky cabinet, it does not overload the space and with a beautiful display, it can become a focal point.
Decorate an empty wall above the headboard
Instead of expensive artworks, you can always use high-quality reproductions or designer posters. They look original, but are much cheaper. You can also create your own original abstract artwork, by using the acrylic pouring technique.
Purchase designer pendant lights
Many people feel uncomfortable if they see a massive chandelier hanged above their bed in the center of the ceiling. Instead, you can place two beautiful pendant lights on each side of the bed. Apart from their beautiful aesthetics they are also very practical since don’t occupy any space on the bedside tables.
Add some vintage flavor
Mix up the modern furniture with the one that you have found in your grandmother’s house many years ago. Things with a story instantly make the interior more “alive”, however, it is also important to know the limits for not making your bedroom look like a garage sale.
