How to Turn Your Bedroom into an Oasis of Calm
By Kaitlyn Romero
When it’s time for bed, you want to lie down in a room that inspires relaxation. Is your bedroom the calm oasis you desire? If not, there are several ways you can create a peaceful atmosphere that’s a pleasure in which to slumber sweetly. A few simple tweaks and a small budget is all it takes to turn your boudoir into a peaceful haven.
Out with Clutter
Have you noticed how mess creates agitation? If your bedroom is crammed with clutter, you can be sure it isn’t the tranquil setting of your dreams. Be bold. Throw out items you don’t use or enjoy. Ill-fitting clothes, old magazines, and anything else clogging up space must go.
Clean Up
The removal of clutter always reveals dust and fluff. If you hate cleaning, take heart. Once your bedroom is shipshape, it won’t require so much vacuuming and dusting. Clean mirrors, door handles, and light switches too. These little details catch the eye and make a difference to the room’s appearance.
Bathe the Room in Soothing Colors
Don’t be put off by a small budget. You can select bedroom colors to aid relaxation without painting walls. Use soft furnishings in a color that stimulates calm like blue or forest green. Matching cushions, rugs, bedding, throws, and curtains will instantly alter the ambiance and produce a tranquil vibe.
Add Textures
Bear texture in mind when selecting décor. Faux fur, silk, satin, lace, and linen will create tactile appeal. Like colors, the textures of soft furnishings should be attractive. Additionally, the material of your bedframe, cupboards, drawers, and closet matter. Personal taste is paramount, but remember wood is warm and metal is cool when it comes to the atmospheres they respectively generate.
Finishing Touches
No calm oasis would be complete without mellow lighting. Uplighters, candles, and table or standard lamps produce restful light to aid relaxation. Scents can also be used to increase tranquility and can be introduced via essential oils in your bedroom. Put a few drops of chamomile or lavender oil on your pillow or an infuser. Alternatively, incense or a fine spray of perfume on furnishings will do the trick.
Paintings and photographs can add or detract to the calmness of your bedroom, so choose wisely. Think about topics that instill peace like waterfalls, woodlands, and symbols equated with serenity. Similarly, the style of frames and mirrors can be taken into account. Do you prefer organic twists and flowing shapes or minimalist, clean edges? You might also like a plant or vase of flowers on show. According to feng shui, the ancient art of object placement, rounded rather than pointed leaves produce the best chi.
With a few minor adjustments, your bedroom can be the oasis of calm you crave. Get rid of clutter and dust and bathe the room in soothing colors and textures. Add a few finishing touches, and your goal will be accomplished.
