Decorating a Bedroom On a Small Budget
There are certain things in your bedroom which you should concentrate on spending money on. These items include a good bed and mattress. For instance, if you want to sleep cool, you may want to invest a significant amount of your bedroom budget in a cocoon mattress. Of course, doing so may mean that you have less money to spend on the overall decoration of your bedroom.
The good news is that there are ways of spending a limited amount of money, while still creating a new bedroom look. Here are five tips to help you make this happen.
Create pillow covers from old curtains
If you have curtains which are faded or worn, you may want to think twice about throwing them away. It’s likely that some of the material will still be in good condition. You can use this material to make unusual pillow covers. It’s a great way of getting additional use out of something.
Replace handles and knobs
It’s not necessary to completely re-decorate a bedroom, in order to liven it up. Why not replace the handles and knobs, on doors and cupboards? This way, you get a fresh look at a low cost, especially if you buy the knobs and handles at a yard sale or house clearance.
Create your own mural
Creating a feature wall is an excellent way of giving your bedroom a new look. If you have some old posters, postcards or photographs you can use, you can fit them all together, to create a very personal mural. Doing this means that you can create an individual and unique feature wall, to brighten up your bedroom space.
Shop for second hand furniture
If you have spent a large portion of your bedroom budget on buying a new bed, you may want think about choosing second hand furniture for the rest of the room. You can find some excellent bargains at yard sales, or on sites such as Gumtree, and it’s amazing how easy it is to paint that old chair you have just bought, and turn it into something that is great to look at.
Re-invent instead of replacing
It’s not just curtains you can turn into something new; the same applies to other items. You can take some old suitcases and turn them into a cool storage unit, for instance. Before you get rid of things from your bedroom, think about whether you can re-invent them, and give them a whole new life.
Making changes in your bedroom, does not mean that you have to invest in a whole new set of decorations and furniture. You can make use of some of the items you already have, and simply change things around. Hopefully, we have inspired you to use your imagination, and helped you on your way to creating a fresh and individual looking bedroom. As you can see, it’s possible to do all of this without spending a significant amount of money.
