ALTERNATIVE ENERGY SOURCES

Installing alternative energy sources is the best thing you can do. As well as saving the environment, this will save money on bills! You could even make a few bucks back by selling excess energy your home makes! The good news is, you don’t have to opt for the bulky options you’re afraid of. Portable wind turbines come in all shapes and sizes. You could buy one that looks like another ornament in your garden!

As for solar panels, you could install individual solar tiles if you don’t like the idea of a large panel. You could even get a portable panel and keep it in your garden, out of sight. Keep up with solar maintenance to ensure it stays looking its best!

FURNISHINGS

The production of furniture can be a huge drain on the environment. From the materials used, to the amount of waste produced, there are many problems! Take yourself out of that equation by getting to grips with DIY furnishings. Not only will making your furnishings help the environment, but it’ll also look amazing!

Instead of buying a new sofa, buy some material and reupholster the one you have. Create shelving units out of wooden pallets. Reusing things you would otherwise throw out will help the environment even more! Use those glass jars as candleholders, instead! Think, too, about furnishings that could help you save heat in your home. This is especially important if you aren’t using alternative energy sources. Thick curtains can add a real touch of class to a room. Plus, they’re sure to keep the heat in when it gets chilly! You could even make some draft excluders to cover under-door gaps. The possibilities are endless.

DECORATION

You can even help the environment with your decoration choices. Bright paints contain strong chemicals. They’re bad for you and the environment. Opt, instead, for pastel paints with natural pigments.

These can look gorgeous, and you can rest easy that they don’t include all those nasty chemicals! You could also go eco-friendly with wallpaper. Wallpaper production involves the cutting down of forests. That’s not good for obvious reasons! Buy eco-friendly wallpaper, produced from sustainable forests. No one would even know the difference, but you’ll be able to rest easy that you’re doing your bit!
