Freshly Picked: Kitchen Glass Countertops by CBD Glass Studios
One of the most amazing things of being designer and blogger is that you discover so many fantastic products, that you really want to incorporate at some point in your projects.
I recently have stumbled upon CBD Glass Studios and was so much impressed with their innovative ideas and artistic approach to glass. My favorite pieces are their gorgeous kitchen countertops – they resemble big blocks of ice, especially with special lighting underneath.
They look very enigmatic, especially during evening hours. You can fully customize these countertops to fit your style – choose the thickness of the glass, texture and even colour.
You can also use them as a feature to highlight a certain area in your kitchen, for example island. With LED lighting underneath it looks quite dramatic and instantly becomes a statement piece . I especially love the combination of aqua glass and warm coloured wood, such as walnut. I think it is a perfect choice for modern kitchens, producing crispy and elegant feel.
Despite their exotic look, glass countertops are very practical and offer a number of advantages, such as:
- they are easy to maintain
- their non-porous structure is hygienic and anti-bacterial.
- they are very strong and able to take tremendous amount of weight.
Glass countertops are also great for the bathrooms. They will certainly become a “wow” factor and will surprise and amaze your guests.
The most popular choice for the bathroom is the “melting ice” texture. I think glass countertops look especially effective with glass sinks.
By the way this studio also makes very interesting vessels and sinks, like for example, this wall mounted waterfall sink.
To make their products they use various techniques, such as carving, sandblasting, fusing, slumping and melting and the latest word of technology.
What do you think of glass countertops? Would you pick them for your kitchen or bathroom? Looking forward to your comments.
