Spread the love

If you’re moving into your first home, then you may be a little short of space. It’s important to make the most of what you have, however. After all, everybody wants their bedroom to feel perfect. Here are some quick tips to make your space look and feel even bigger!

Mirror

A huge mirror on the wall opposite your window can really make a room feel massive. The mirror reflects sunlight around the room, making your bedroom not only brighter but feel bigger too. It’s an ideal illusion for somebody with a small space to work with.

Keep It Simple

It’s easy to simplify a small space. Having less stuff can make your room look a hundred times bigger. Clutter is the enemy of a small bedroom, so be sure to clean yours out in order to transform your space into something much bigger. Invest in some unique and practical storage options to keep all of your belongings tidy. Storage is an incredible way to invest in space.

White

Painting the walls either white or slightly off-white can have a huge effect on the spaciousness of a room. The blank canvas allows you to focus on other aspects of the room and almost takes the walls away a little bit, minimising the feeling of crampedness. Give it a go.

Compact Furniture

Consider smaller versions of your standard oak beds, wardrobes and drawers to really capitalise on the space that you do have. That way, you can still have all the bedroom fittings that you desire, but within a smaller room. Oak matches really well with a white canvas, too!

Pathway

Make sure you’re able to navigate around your bedroom easily. Having obstacles in the way of the door to the bed will no doubt make the room feel both untidy and tiny! You shouldn’t have to complete an assault cause just to get some shut-eye at night. So, make sure there are clear pathways to increase mobility around your bedroom.

Remove Doors

Removes the doors off of your cabinets and wardrobe. What this does, is it alleviates some of the space taken up by swinging open a door, allowing you to place furniture, etc. closer together. If you think this would look a little untidy, perhaps opt for sliding door mechanisms. That way, your possessions can be stored away privately but you still have a bit more space to work with, too.

Decorate Ceiling

If you really want to give your cramped bedroom some height then make the ceiling the centrepiece. Either paint or wallpaper the roof of your bedroom to focus eyes on the ceiling. People often neglect their ceiling, but decorating it is an incredible way to add grandeur and the effect of space to any bedroom.

Hopefully, these quick tips have got your bedroom looking super spacious. They’re all relatively easy to follow and fairly inexpensive, so be sure to at least give them a go. The last thing you want in your new home is a horribly cramped bedroom – that’s not relaxing!
