Apartment Renovation Project: Concept & Decorative Scheme

Hello friends! In today’s post I wanted to share with you the project I am currently working on. It is a one bedroom apartment renovation here in Moscow. It is in the middle of construction and at the moment it looks just like this:

My client is a lovely women and when we met for the first time for the briefing she said that her main requirement is that she wants this flat to look “light and warm”. Also she mentioned that she loves warm beige colours as well as lavender and purple. Here is my concept proposal to her for the living room and the kitchen:

I have taken warm neutrals as the main colours and dark shade (eggplant) shade of purple as an accent. This type of colour scheme is called “neautral and one colour”. Usually it looks very dramatic, drawing your eye to the use of single colour. Strong tonal and textural contrasts provide depth and balance. It is important to balance the scheme by introducing the colour elsewhere in the room – the repetition of colour has calming effect even though the colour is a strong one and creates a very tailored look.

In the living room this accent will be in the form of chair, decorative cushions and curtain trimming. In the kitchen it will be used as colour for the backsplash, similar to this one:
