Pimpernel Wallpaper As a Popular Trend
Bank holidays are over here in Latvia and it feels like this long weekend was pretty short indeed. At the same time it was full of memories and emotions as we’ve spent amazing time in Tallinn and Helsinki. My camera is full of photos and hopefully, I can share some with you later this week.
Today reading my favourite design blogs I’ve stumbled upon several beautiful interiors featuring Pimpernel wallpaper (dark coloured Victorian style floral print). Mostly those rooms were decorated in Scandinavian style and the combination of pure minimalism of nordic decor and flamboyant exuberant wallpaper was quite striking. On the one hand this wall finishing accentuates the simplicity and modesty of decor, but at the same time it makes it feel warmer and cozier. I would imagine that without it those interiors would look a bit dull and uninviting. Pimpernel wallpaper plays the chief role in any space, where it was used.
Take a look:
I so love the combination of this dark floral ornament with pure white tiles. Also the use of this wallpaper, quite usual for living rooms and libraries, in the kitchen looks quite unexpected and therefore fresh.
Talking more about possible use of this wallpaper in various spaces, I can’t skip this wonderful kids room, where one wall is covered with several versions of Pimpernel from different collections. It is a perfect solution for a girl’s room: looks very girlish but at the same time quite adultly:
I have already mentioned that Pimpernel wallpaper works great in libraries and living rooms, here is a couple of spaces that inspire me a lot:
And again here is a perfect example how to mix and match totally different styles: white brick walls from modern industrialism and floral patterns of country chic:
Pimpernel wallpaper would also look great in entry halls and narrow corridors: its colourful and splashy pattern will distract from small dimensions of space:
Finally a couple of words about wonderful artist who invented the design of Pimpernel wallpaper. William Morris (1834-1896) was the most famous and the most influential representative of “Arts and Crafts” movement. He focused on textile and fabric design and created by him ornaments always contained floral motifs, demonstrating his love for nature.
Morris became the only owner of the company ” Morris & Co.. “, which executed various projects, including designing ornaments for English cottons and handmade carpets, as well as decorating multiple interiors .
