9 DIY Christmas Ideas Of Decorating With Burlap
Burlap is amazing fabric. Very simple and rustic from the first glance, it can be at the same time very elegant and refined. I think it is a wonderful material to use for Christmas decor: it immediately creates such a warm and cozy feel – exactly what we need for this family holiday.
I have found some very creative and beautiful decorations made of burlap – have a look and get inspired!
1. First of all you may use it for decorating Christmas tree itself. The easiest yet one of the most elegant ways is to put burlap ribbon around it as a garland. I have seen also when this fabric is interlaced with a garland light – looks fabulous too, though am not sure about fire safety, better to use secure approach, such as below:
2. You really don’t have to be professional tailor to sew some very cute Christmas stockings from burlap. I love the idea of putting some greenery inside – very elegant and natural look:
If you are lazy though, you can buy ready burlap stockings, I found these very cute ones made in French country style in one of the Etsy shops (what a cool idea to put some straw inside, no?):
3. Another popular solution is to use burlap to decorate glass candle holders. In big ones like on the picture below you can add some winterly inspired decor: glass beads resembling ice, branches of fir-tree or even small Christmas tree ornaments. You can also make your own candle holders from empty mason jars, glasses or bottles – possibilities to express creativity are endless!
4. Making Christmas Wreaths is another popular way to incorporate burlap into festive decor. I love the one below with seashells on it – brings some summer flavour to winter holiday!
5. And, of course, burlap is irreplaceable material for creating original gift wraps. So many ways how you can use it: cut it, make figures and flowers, dye it in different colours and so on.
6. Making these easy and chic sashes for the chairs will immediately transform the look of your dining room:
7. Another brilliant idea is to wrap in jute zinc buckets (one more rustic element) and put inside tree branches with Christmas ornaments on them:
8. Or try to make some ornaments yourself, for example these charming Christmas tree balls: all what you will need are foam craft balls, transparent glue and burlap stripe.
If you are friendly with a sewing machine you can also try to create different figures, e.g. stars, birds, hearts, triangles, etc.
9. Finishing accent is to get burlap on the festive table: napkin rings, table cloths, silverware holders – these are few things which you can make.
