Elegant romance at Prieure De La Chaise, Loire Valley, France
Loire Valley in France is one of those dreamlike places you should definitely see at least once in your life. Our trip was a bit spontaneous though I dreamed about it for many years.
One of the things which surprised me most of all is that every, literally EVERY little village in the valley had something interesting to see, whether it was a castle, a church or medieval street which remained unchanged until our days. All those magnificent castles we have seen were on the edge of fantasy and reality:
Visiting Châteaux de la Loire is an amazing experience by itself but staying in one of them will create unforgettable memories. Luckily so many castles were transformed into hotels or guest houses that you can easily choose one according to your taste and budget. The hotel we stayed in was probably one of the most romantic places I ever been. It is called Prieure De La Chaise and is situated in the heart of Loire Valley. It was built in the 15th century and initially was owned by an abbey. The current owners created a very cozy boutique hotel inside it.
The interior look of the castle makes you feel like a time traveler. A magnificent living room is filled with luxurious antique furniture and precious tapestries:
Ancient fireplace is guarded by two sculptured hunting dogs so common for aristocratic mode of life:
Stunning antique furniture was embellished with very fine and delicate details which were done meticulous care:
The guest rooms were just gorgeous. Each one of them was decorated in its own style and filled with individuality and unique pieces of furniture and home accessories:
In the courtyard there is a secluded sun deck and swimming pool. It was so nice to unwind here in the evening after long and tiring day of sight-seeing:
Relaxing outdoor kitchen is mainly used for wine tasting of precious local wines from the owner’s cellar:
Near the house there is a chapel. I think it looked exactly the same 600 years ago. It seems that peaceful monk is going to ring the bell:
