Green Living in the Living Room

The heart of the home, the living room is where we entertain guests, bond with the family, and regain our sense of self. Our first interior design must-have for 2017is the incorporation of jewel-inspired shades of green. The aptly named ‘greenery’ is set to be the hue of choice.

Dubbed 2017’s Pantone Colour of the Year, ‘greenery’ is said to represent a sense of refreshment and revitalisation, ultimately enhancing our environment to best relax us. Reminiscent of an emerald jewel, this shade is one trend we suggest you hold in high value. Return to nature with shades of green to gain a balance between head, heart and wellbeing.

Industrial Cool – Warm and Stylish

In the coming year we’ll wave goodbye to the copper renaissance and instead say hello to the warmer textures of exposed natural brickwork – the latest interior must-have. Adding exposed brickwork will inject character and warmth to the dining room; it will be an inviting change for a space traditionally associated with entertaining and socialising. Impress your guests by stripping your walls back in 2017 to create an industrial-type feel with a homely edge. Minimalism is out; cosy is in.

The Exchange Building project brilliantly incorporated exposed brickwork to give off an industrial feel that was both warm and stylish. The aim was to create a New York-style loft apartment. Exposed brickwork is versatile and aesthetically pleasing.

Interesting Ingredients

We’re all about maximising our space to the best possible effect, and next year’s trend for tucked-away appliances certainly has us intrigued. Think retractable hoods for kitchen islands, hidden ovens, and concealed fridges. Experts are even predicting that entire kitchens will soon be able to fold up into a box, something that certainly gives us a fresh take on the concept of a ‘box room’.

The Regents Park House project advances the idea of a hidden kitchen. The utilities are subtle, incorporated into the kitchen’s work surfaces and cupboards.

Living the Dream

They may currently be resigned to our childhood fantasies, luxurious hotels and the Princess’ boudoir in fairy-tales, but velvet-upholstered bedheads are set to make a return in 2017. Set to replace the more Scandi-style bed frames that have proven popular in recent years, velvet-upholstered bedheads are a simple way to bring your bedroom into 2017, adding instant glamour to create a more opulent aesthetic.
